Your best bet is to buy the shitty "generic" brand stuff that only sell to wholesalers, and those are conglomerated too.
In most cases, those are actually rebrands of the real thing. Large-scale bakeries, for example, often arrive with two pallets to the supermarket--the generic ones and the branded ones. Absolutely identical, and the money goes to the same place.

I've heard that about breakfast cereals. But in some cases you can definitely tell a quality difference between one cereal and its imitator, so I don't know ...

I heard that about breakfast cereals as well, and was just about to buy the generic when i read the ingredients and the carbohydrate content and the brand name had actual sugar and the generic was all high fructose corn syrup, and twice the carb amount as the brand name.  So I didn't get the generic.
