Paint it Red
« on: May 17, 2010, 11:31:27 am »

Just made a new game - http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/536321

I think people who like unusual and challenging games would like it:) Even though it is in a sense quite opposite to Dwarf Fortress - it's all about visual.

My weak-ass computer doesn't have the oomph to play that at a decent framerate and that is terrible. Maybe the Opera flash plugin is really inefficient? I don't know. :(

I played it for a while. Pretty hard.

I'm totally going to expand on this concept. I already have a simple physics engine that I wrote a while ago, it'd be absolutely perfect for this.

I dunno, you guys have survived Thomas the tank engine, golems, zombies, nuclear explosions, laser whales, and being on the same team as ragnarock.  I don't think something as tame as a world ending rain of lava will even slow you guys down.

It is somewhat heavy on the CPU time, yes :/ Though I optimized it as much as I could.

Oh, YOU made it. Good job!
I take it you just made a whole bunch of dots and used a simple physics system to push them towards the cursor, then let them leave streaks on the screen, right?

Mostly yes. But it's hardly "physical" in most cases. They just behave some way, and that way is different on each level.

I''m getting good rates on a semi-fried CPU from 2005.

Switching music off can make it somewhat faster. Or upgrading your flash to latest version.

It made me mad.
It's not "fun" like DF it's really a game of see how long you can play before you get pissed and quit.
so it's ok but not personaly my kind of game.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves.  The obvious solution is to chain the baby up at the entrance as a kobold detector.

I was frustrated at first, but once I got used to it, this was awesome.

Rose was delightful and beautiful.

...I couldn't get enough perfects to unlock Hive.  :x  But that game was awesome.

Damn, making games too hard is may achilles' heel. And you haven't seen the first version - THAT was frustrating.

I dunno, I got through it in half an hour including twelve perfects, I wouldn't call it "too hard".  In fact I'd call it "just about right" for my tastes, for what it is.
