We strike the earth!  Immediatly taking in my surroundings I notice what upon closer examination aparantly is known as "phantom spider silk web" everywhere.

Doctor Harford has been picked as the expedition leader.  Of course cutiebeard has been labled as the official record keeper.  Obvious choice there.

We imediatly start hacking away at the haunted webby trees.  Looking around the map I think the fortress entrance should be near one of the bodies of water. (Several ponds abound) Thus keeping the entrances as secluded as possible,  There is no elevation whatsoever, it is indeed very very flat.

A blackbear wandered near us, I was not sure what it was going to do, But it seems to want to leave us alone for now,  As we breath our sigh of relief I have a carpenters shop and a mechanics shop being made on the surface near our wagon.  Getting basic farms dug out first before I start temporary living quarters (I dont plan on staying near the surface long.)

Every map has magma Just need to find it,  We have none on the surface.

Edit: note to self:  Making your carpenter also be your woodcutter probably wasnt the most efficient way to do things.

alright zen. if we dig, oh, around 150 z-levels down, we can find ze magma. if we get rooms set up for ourselves quickly enough we can get ze magma before ze first elves come.

ACtually right now I'm trying to put all of your precious stones under lockdown in case you had use for them later, that way when i order the masonry work started they wont get used up.

The bear has started attacking..  But it only damaged a mules hoof.
