Countries at War: Europe Edition (Turn Seven)
« on: May 05, 2010, 07:19:53 pm »

This is a war domination game, inspired by the countries at war games that have been played and abandoned here.  This is my first time here, but I have lots of free time to do the turns for this.  There can be up to ten players (Europe will get crowded real fast).  You have to choose a country and a color, and then I will change the map for it.

Each player starts with $150,000.

Players must keep track of their own money and units!
Micro nations allowed!

Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.

Behold, several new countries have gained immense power and have laid their eyes on all of Europe!

Spoiler: New Map (click to show/hide)

And Neyvn, sorry, teal has already been taken.  Just pick any other color.

Neyvn, We are so close to each other. Why don't we make an alliance? An alliance between Germany and Italy worked out so well in the past! :P

I shall be Portugal, and we proudly wear Green.

And is it just me, or is navy/battleships completely inferior to airforce/fighters? Ships should probably have higher attack/defense, because they're limited to water.

EDIT: And will we ever get more variety, like bombers for air and cruisers/submarines/carriers for sea?

@ OP: I would suggest downloading GIMP and using it's Magic Wand tool to select countries when changing their color. It prevents those unslightly white between the black borders and the country's color.

Am I the only one who think it's odd that Denmark isn't on the map?

Here's Portugal for you, and your right, battleships are inferior, I think I'll just lower the price of the battleships and give them a higher defence.  I added them in because transports needed some protection.  I'm thinking of new units also, like artillery.  Carriers wouldn't be much help as planes currently don't need to refuel.  More infrastructure ideas would be great too.

That is a bit odd...

I'm keeping the white because later when people with darker colors for their countries takes over other countries we can use the white lines to tell the countries apart instead of seeing one solid black fill.

...

.......

How did I not notice that...

For infrastructure, you could have... I dunno, railroads(faster movement), trenches(defense bonus) and cities(extra income).

Battleships should act like Artillery. Cruisers could probably have a bonus air defense, but lack the artillery and are easily destroyed by battleships.

I'm making them cheaper and giving them a higher defense so they will be escorts for transports.  I also like your idea of having them be 'artillery' and giving them a bombardment attack.

No.

First we nuked the rest of the world into the sea, then we nuked Denmark.

No.

We nuked half of Turkey and Russia, and only the middle and southern half of Africa?  Why didn't we just nuke each other then?  If anyone has an idea for how to add nukes without them being unbalanced, I'm all for it.  My idea would be to build a nuke silo and then place it in a country, and then allow it to launch nukes for a price (several hundred thousand dollars?) and the nuke could travel up to five spaces.  I dunno, seems unbalanced.
