Haunted pick!
« on: April 28, 2010, 10:40:24 pm »

I accidentally let a ceiling collapse onto one of my dwarves, and now his replacement is too afraid to take his fallen comrade's pick. Is there a good way to fix this problem?

What do you mean he's too afraid?  Is there a raccoon nearby?

Just reclaim the pick (d-b-c).

Nasty.
I once had a buzzard spirit steal food constantly. I ended up having a dwarf with the burial labor enabled attack it, and that seemed to finish the beast.

Ah, that's likely a bug. I've had it where my miners die, and the rest of the fortress refuses to acknowledge that the picks even exist.

I have a siltstone rock in my dining room that my dwarves will not touch under any circumstance. I wish they'd just move it anywhere, build the chair, and be done with.

Yes. Clearly a bug that ought to be fixed in the future, but exploit it in the meantime.

As have I. I accidentally killed both miners in planned cave-ins (I wanted injured dwarves to try out the hospital system) and the others wouldn't go near the picks even when I told them to mine.

Are you building anything like walls or floors? Dwarves won't touch anything that's marked to be built into a construction as far as I can tell.

Not at the present time, all my megaconstructions are done. I've marked it for dumping, I've unmarked it for dumping, I've ordered the chair to be built there, and nothing works.
