This is why my pumps always have a lever linked to a mechanism for power control.

Mindblowingly awesome.

Yah, it sounds like minecraft with content, you have obviously missed the point, people dont like content, they like different coloured blocks.
Seems to work fine with my copy. As soon as I loaded the human caravan came by and the world burst into fire.

Friggin awesomesauce. The story itself is nothing special (for dwarf fortress) but the pictures and little comments within the pictures make this epic.

Excellent story, but the pictures really complete it!  Beautifully epic disaster!  Thanks for passing the word around!

The Terror of Oggez Rashas put goosebumps on my wretched body, and inspired my jaded mind.

If the pumping system had worked as intended, wouldn't it have flooded stockpiles and sleeping/dining chambers?  Unless there were some failsafes we don't see here.

I've failed in setting up a stack of pumps before, but never so fatally.

I laughed;  I cried;  it became a part of me.

The intruder arose, casting off its black cloak.  "Behold, stunted jesters!  It is I, Scuro!"  A jagged scar marked the goblin's face from eye to chin, his greasy mane gray and wild, and about his neck was the broken silver amulet, strapped together by a leather band.

As someone else said, this is what's so great about graphics-free games -- the immersion, and the way it makes people create stuff like this.

Screenshots is one thing, but storytelling like this? Priceless, just priceless.

Yeah, the "S.N.A.F.U." caption is the best part. Along with "Smells like Dwarf Fortress".
