Bronze Colossus Camp!?
« on: April 09, 2010, 04:09:33 pm »

ok we got Kobold Camp, goblin Camp and maney others

but how would i go about doing Bronze Colossus Camp?  ??? can anyone of you help me? as i know next to nothing about modding the new 2010 DF (i only just got the basic grassp of the last one 40D? or somthing)

i want to make this for both adventure and fortress mode

for back story i was thinking a hidden city of Bronze Colossus's/Colossie? so maybe human to dwarf level tech and jobs maybe? sorta aiming for a greek/rome-ish kind of civ

what do you guys think?  ;D

You are batshit insane.

Though this may not necessarily be a bad thing.

If you're going to play a race of giant immortals you might as well make Dwarves 100x as big and change their tissue layers to adamantine.

I made dragons the playable race and embarked in an elven sanctuary, drafted all my dragons, and burnt the whole thing down.
Then i did it again.
and again.
and again.
so much elf grease.
so much.

I'm in the middle of one so far if you want to change labor add intelligence tag on their creature files.
the best thing about them is the lack of stomachs to feed and rest. still they do take breaks and you will want to either build a moat to keep out the outpost Larson from destroying your buildings trying to search for your leader or keep the leader out side of the fort so that won't happen.
oh and cracking the HFS will lead to an epic battle or an epicly long one if you don't train your military to hack at them.  edit: wait unless you end up with magma versions then you are doomed to be melted down.

The laziest way to do this is to edit the [ENTITY:MOUNTAIN] entry to use [CREATURE:COLOSSUS_BRONZE] instead of [CREATURE:DWARF]

This does let you play with bronze colossi instead of dwarves without any other changes, but colossi are missing some tags that let you change their jobs, or have names, etc.

You'll also probably want to mod in creatures that can actually pose a threat to the colossi, or make colossi less colossal.

which is why you need to slap on [intelligence] in their creature file some where.
that fixes the no job changing or names.

I have a bronze golem raw that can easily have the intelligence needed to be a civ. Just ask if you want it. Basically, it's a toned-down bronze colossus with a brain and the ability to learn.

Here's the raw data. Just add the intelligence tag.

A couple typos you might want to patch up:
  • Duplicate closing bracket on description tag (I doubt that breaks anything)
  • Closing brace '}' instead of bracket on large roamer tag

Do the following contradict each other or overlap? I'm not a moder, so what seems odd to me may still actually be necessary for some function. It just seems that if the creature has a brain, it wouldn't need the no_though tag. Then again, this may allow them to keep moving even if the somehow lose their brain...

Without tendons and nerve tissue, no.
Would be redundant, not contradictory.

Exactly. I realized that during school.
