Badgers are a must, of course! Penguin, capybara, platypus, moose, rhino, giraffe -- those are all the new non-domestics I can remember off the top of my head. Some of them also have a "humanoid" version.

Considering my avatar is a green goblin, it's ridiculous how often I hear this. Even my wife agrees.
And thanks!

Korva: are those animalmen hardcoded or procedurally generated? (if you don't know, I'll search the raws).

They all have [COPY_TAGS_FROM], [APPLY_CREATURE_VARIATION:ANIMAL_PERSON] and such which I take it is procedural generation.

Thanks bunches. I'm a big fan of your graphics pack. Is it possible to take my fort in the current version and put it in 31.08 with out having things get messed up?

No, I don't think that's possible. But I'm no specialist- you can try.

Hey everybody,

I've been trying to get the MayDay tileset to work in DF. I've probably spent 3-4 hours in the past two days with no luck. I downloaded a version of DF from here - http://afteractionreporter.com/2009/02/09/the-complete-and-utter-newby-tutorial-for-dwarf-fortress-part-1-wtf/ . This is how I want to end up with my client looking.

The "how to" on the MayDay page doesn't make sense to me - I admit that I am new to DF and to modding DF as well. I also tried following these instructions to add the MayDay tileset - http://www.pcgamer.com/2010/10/04/how-to-update-dwarf-fortress-without-losing-your-saves/ but it asks me to move the "colors" file from the mayday folder to the client folder and there is no colors folder.

Am I oblivious to some simple way to get this tileset (or any at that) working? Does anyone have a link to a copy of DF with the MayDay tileset working with it?

Thanks!

If you are running on a Windows system, I suggest downloading and installing the Lazy Newb Pack. It seems this package is what most new players start with. And even some experienced players rave about it.

The Lazy Newb Pack allows players to switch between three different graphics sets (including the Mayday set) with a simple click of a menu option. (After starting the LNP GUI, just click the graphics tab and click "Mayday" under "Change Graphics".) It also allows players to configure a bunch of options, all of which should have mouse-over pop-up text to explain what each option does. Oh, and while optional, it has a bunch of handy utilities preinstalled. (Milage may vary, but it seems most players use Dwarf Therapist.)
