I'm not really in any rush to start. I'm happy to wait for Grim to finish.

Awesome.  I'm happy too.  I've never ran one of these things before, just trying to do what I've been told ;p.  Make new rules, and I'll enforce em.  Make no rules, and I'll not enforce em.  Either way, we've got Kamudo active, and that's the best thing of all.

Yeah, don't follow my rules too exact. O-o People are roughly allowed a week. If people don't give a shit, then let them have moar time. As long as it's reasonable. Grim's a good player, so I see no reason to worry about him not finishing.

Alright my turn is all finished, ill upload the save for the next player for now. Might write up some narrative later, but no sure about that as things didnt quite go as planned (the magma machine is very prone to failure and takes ages to set up for a single use).

Anyhow, to sum up what I have been doing:
-I have pretty much been expanding the old fortress. Built another mini-fortress with some farms and statues, accesable only from some drawbridges leading to the main fortress.
-I also deepened and decorated/smoothed the catacombs I built in my previous turn. The bottom level serves as magma evaporation chamber.
-Lost two nobles! Oh woe! One in an unfortunate accident with the !!magma device!!, one just get herself killed by going berserk. The Count still lives, hes a pretty relaxed guy. Just hangs out in his garden and prohibits exports on crap we dont have.
-There is also a garbage processing device built to entertain the Count (and me). Linking one lever took over a season, forgot how 40d can be annoying like that.
-Made a dining room with silver tables and lead chairs. Because why not.
-Left the huge square thing alone, I liked the old fortress better. Just finished some bedrooms as I didnt have many of those.
-Massively cut down on the hauling spam. No more stockpiles for every furniture item, no more stockpiles that accept goblin pants. Started on cleaning some stone and garbage outside.
-Trained up a metalsmith with the massive amouth of lead ores we had, shes at professional now. Its one of the legendary miners (they are faster).
 -A suprise.

Without further ado, the save. http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=2700

I like Surprises. O:!

Hopefully its nothing we can't handle. >.>

I'll probably spend most of my turn cleaning up stuff, digging, and... I dunno. O-o

In other news, I'm trying to keep a steady Fort in 31.10, which was pretty hard, cause my forts mostly suck. But, I've got a good location now, so I think it's all good. So yeah, I'll be practicing my fort build. For my turn. :3

Downloading now. I'll let you know what the surprise is tomorrow, because 1 in the morning is not the best time to be surprised.

Ok, playing the fort. time to start chronicling my exploits.

Diaries of a Dungeon Master, 1st Granite

I was told today It was time for me to show my management skills, that it was my time to shine, that I'm now in charge of the fortress!

I'm a little put out, really. A fortress isn't a Dungeon, no matter how large and sprawling it is! I'm no good at managing people!

Still. Better put a brave face on it, and go out there and do something good for the fortress. The previous overseer, Grim, told me about some sort of surprise he'd left for me. I like surprises!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Huh. Surprising. Unless it was this. This is quite surprising
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The lack of booze in our stocks tells me we may be in grave trouble. Our brewers are working as hard as they can to rectify the imbalance, but people are still going thirsty for lack of drink.

Lastly, we seem to have no skilled armour or weaponsmiths, and our military is armed with Iron, with the occasional piece of imported Steel. Even I know an iron armoured military is asking for trouble, It's no better than the goblins, and look what we've been doing to them! I realise it's a tall ask, but I am going to do my best to give our boys at the very least some well made Iron.

Time to go shower, then do a bit of ironing and have lunch. Fortress may be delayed until tomorrow, depending on how long this all takes me.

Fortress should get some playing tomorrow. I was quite surprised by the booze, or lack thereof, I must say. Also, the wells in the murky pools is an intriguing idea. Going to attempt to train up an armourcrafter with some of the copper I've ordered mined out. Also going to look into steel production, and see if I can't get our military into something approaching decent gear. no quality iron just doesn't seem like a very good idea, to me.

Hehe I made those wells to water wounded dwarves and maybe make a decent farm in the actual fortress. Couldnt fully finish the project though as a started it late in the year, the whole thing was supposed to have a large basin where the dwarves would bucket-chain the water into. From there I could have made a decent indoor farm and save some pointless walking about. Also I could prevent that eternal spam of 'cancels give water'.

Most of the wells are forbidden by the way. I didnt notice the dwindling booze supplies and dwarves started drinking the water.
