tell them to wait in a broom closet? build another site and stash all the zombies there?

I tried, they start running around anyway. And they seem to teleport when I wait or use them to build.

EDIT: And in DF 0.43.02 I just tried for the third time to craft a mastercraft dagger. You'll never guess what I got instead: 'chert hive' o_O

Whatever mod you're using fucked up and set the dagger-crafting reaction to spit out an item of item type "TOOL" instead of "WEAPON" it seems. Large daggers are weapons, while the civilian knives are tools.

Ah, an easy thing to fix then as I will only need to change what it'll produce.

Anyhow, In my new freshly genned world of 'Tirar Raxesu' aka 'The World of Legends' and yes this time I have Draenei in them too and from the legends it looks like they outnumber other civs just a few hundred, started off as an evil-ish outsider Ischrotaur 'Dhorna Demonborn the Beast-Woman of Rage' in a bandit camp 'Tamenets' near a large Draenei civ with two hamlets and a town. Besides that, not much else is happening except:

I got it! I managed it without DFhack and DFtool! Yeah my abilities are not at 5000 but at least thanks to cheat engine they are at the highest I could get in character creation! Plus I have all the necessary gear and legendary skills for my gear: A mastercraft ischronite drolth, a mastercraft platinum whip, a mastercraft ischronite backpack and a mastercraft ischronite flask and I can create/spawn the rest of the gear as I see fit down the line. For this playthrough I painted my Ischronite metal in vermilion again and changed my the eyes of the ischrotaur lass to amber but left the mahogany skin color. Which finally means I can in a short while sit down and FINALLY wind down and go hardcore actual playing of the new DF version and eventually build something in adv-mode. Cue the fuckin' music! 8)

Huehuehue. I've built a basic building for me, and working on the tavern proper. I keep encountering that "need to get more logs or the work will pretend to start but never complete" bug.

Heh, I'm so overloaded with my accomplishment that at the moment I'm just taking a break and listening to all sorts of Doom-esque music.

Basically I have no idea at the moment where to even begin in my DF world as I don't want wanton Draenei death, will have to consult the map once I've gotten some sleep.

Well, my adventurer and her companions finished building a three-story house/tavern type thing, The Bastion of Killers, where she then retired.
Managed to set up a dining room, too, despite the rot bugs (I ported my save from 0.1 but it still seems to happen, fortunately it's a lot quicker to skill-up carpentry when you aren't a lazy fort dorf, haha), although I didn't make it a tavern... I probably should have, to see what would happen. Oh well.

Seems that the camp's location has pretty much the most dangerous wildlife possible without having zombies or husks... heaps of giant critters and animal people, both of whom are occasionally hostile. We hunted some giant rhinoceroses for meat, actually; they weren't very hostile.
But we've been occasionally menaced by giant scorpions and scorpion or snake people, who are quite dangerous.
And honey badger people, who weren't, surprisingly enough.

One bark scorpion woman shoved the dwarven herbalist to the ground and jammed her stinger into his brain before escaping.
Pretty sexy, really. They were expendable. Fortunately no-one else has been poisoned as far as I am aware.

Now I'm making another adventurer to let some time pass.

I actually started a camp next to a bunch of albatross people who were aggroing me (not running away, though) and talking. After talking to them myself, and making the camp, they actually stuck around. Just kinda hanging out. I gave them names to keep track of them, and indeed it was the same ones appearing repeatedly.

There was also a giant albatross hanging around. I named her Thuma, she was pretty chill for a bird. Oh, and a crab man.

Started a grizzly bear man peasant, on my way out of hamlet I made myself a dolomite axe and started building a house on the other side of mountains. Unluckily I couldn't build on a mountain area (You must go down from the mountains - or something like that) so I built nearby, close to small brook. The problem was that it was a colder area and brook was always frozen, so I moved on to a ravine where I had a perfect spot for my three storey house. I built it alone, took 70 in-game hours. When I was done, I wanted to get some water from river bit I was attacked by a giant alligator. Lost both hands, then another alligator appeared and started to fight with the second one. I retreated to my house, still don't have doors constructed so I'd better move with that else I'll be eaten. I'll also have to built up a secure way to river.

Edit: Can't make any carpentry without hands, so I guess I'll just start another adventurer.

Also, I'm sad that wild boar men aren't bigger than humans. ;w;

*slaps self* Wait a minute! I just looked at the default wild boar raws [BODY_SIZE:2:0:80000] and did this: (80000+70000)/2 = 75000 ..they are already bit bigger than a human by default!

The reason I even looked is because those warthogs/wild boars remind me of the pig cops from Duke Nukem 3D for some reason and I still deep down feel the urge to initiate my true Spartan character playthrough as it is the only kind of playstyle where this mortality thing is somewhat acceptable for me due to the '300' movie having an immense effect on me. I need to ponder on this for a bit longer as the character in question must be a true Spartan at heart trained like any other Spartan male which means certain super-skills only (perhaps) making him stoic and a bit rude with little social skills apart from ability to storytell how things truly were.

Well, unfortunately after retiring the fort, nothing much seemed to have happened at my little vacation "resort".
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I did make another adventurer who became a hearthperson of the magnataur lord along with his companions, and I recruited the creepy orc lasher as a hearthperson as well.

I'll see what happens later, maybe with more hearthpeople something will pop up - I'll steal some alcohol from the nearby town, maybe that'll attract people.

One of those things you gotta love about df: it gives you opportunities to use sentences like this.

I hope it's only just bad luck and it's not that player-created sites arent yet included in all those world update things.

Anyone saw his self made site getting things happening after you have retired your adventurer and run a time-skipping fortress for a couple of year ?

rhinomen are OP. Just charged my way through an entire dark fortress - at 0.303 speed after not noticing I fell over. I was facing trolls, goblins and beak dogs.

Could it have anything to do with the site being located in the mountains? Can NPC travel there? (Assuming it's actually in the mountains, with the volcano and whatnot.)

Not that it's been all that long since he set the place up.

Heh, I'm so overloaded with my accomplishment that at the moment I'm just taking a break and listening to all sorts of Doom-esque music.

I'd even recommend a handful of the themes from the new Doom game. :V https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ArEULrpYqqI

*slaps self* Wait a minute! I just looked at the default wild boar raws [BODY_SIZE:2:0:80000] and did this: (80000+70000)/2 = 75000 ..they are already bit bigger than a human by default!

And yeah, it seems that wild boar men are indeed slightly bigger. Still enough that they can wear human-sized armor though. And generally if they're close enough in size to be armor compatible, then the size difference isn't enough to give me that edge I was looking for. XP
