all this gods talk make makes me want to boot up the old experiment of shoving a historical god into mortal flesh. hopefully this time I don't end up getting one of the hostile ones.

so instead of bumbling through historical figures blindly I filter the list of any who had the diety flag check.
and grab the first one on the list and slap it on a random peasant and when I back out of the dfhack menus I got treated by this.

so uhh didn't talk to this orc yet so I don't know what will happen.
oh and I'm playing a hag shaman in the dark ages mod so WHO KNOWS which god did I pick up, wizard? elder vampire? modded in armok. updating this as I go on.

okay here something hag shaman started worshiping no one. that is up until I started talking to this dwarf god possessed orc.
and now I have 1 historical story to tell which is the time when the adventurer started worshiping this dwarf god possessed orc.
oh and talking to this god-orc just causes the orc god to state values and blows off any and all attempts of conversation.

got lucky on the god summon also learn you can learn a new religion in the new edition. just need to literally talk to the god you want.

Just remember: if you are a godstomping maxed out adventurer and you encounter a dragon posing as a deity in a mead hall, do NOT kick it in the skull hard enough to kill it.

For some reason this breaks shit and makes them DIS-THE-FUCK-APPEAR!

I had to go in and track down which unit it was and untoggle the death flags so I could see it again and actually kill it.

Done this twice now, so it's a thing.

Just remember: if you are a godstomping maxed out adventurer and you encounter a dragon posing as a deity in a mead hall, do NOT kick it in the skull hard enough to kill it.

Pfft, talking to existing gods is fine and all, but why not talk to one you knew before they ascended?

Heck, why even bother with other gods when you are clearly the mightiest force around?

I just learned that people write books post worldgen outside of fort mode.

Urdim is my guy, but other people wrote books while I was playing as well.

Nearly everyone I talk to worships me now, with the exception of a few who (rudely) inform me they worship no one. I understand the dragon pretending to be a deity saying this, and I'm sure it understood me punching it in the brain for it... but I'm trying to avoid the urge to brain little kids for smarting off like that TO A LIVING GOD OF WAR!


Hmmm, I need to figure out how to assign a sphere to myself. I already converted my need to pray to Nikot into a need to pray to myself.

glad to see becoming a god isn't the ceiling to this game. though I wonder what's next after going around spreading your faith to the world. personal angels?

Well, a weird thing is I can't actually inquire about troubles now, I guess a god should know already? Maybe I need to have people pray to me about problems?

Through force of will, whereby I glared sternly at the world and told it there is a new god! That df.global.world.history.figures[17460] was the new lord of brainpunching and gut ripping!

It's not as neat as you might think, like I said, can't actually ask about troubles anymore, can't ask what people think of me to find my fame since they just say they worship me, etc.
