In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Strike The Earth

What's wrong with this one?

Dwarf Fortress: Strike the Earth!

Yeah but well ... consider that doing so usually ends badly for the dwarves.  Perhaps this would be better:

Dwarf Fortress:  Strike the Earth ... The Earth Strikes Back: With MAGMA!

Df: where when it rains cats and dogs it only means that someone has devised a particularly cunning trap.

Df: where a complete game over in .30 seconds... is only .29 seconds away from a new record.

Dwarf Fort: No one can save you now.

Dwarf Fort: If it had better graphics, no one would ever play anything else.

Dwarf Fort: When you think you are finally safe, you will soon find out just how wrong you were.

Dwarf Fort: Nobody gets out alive.

Dwarf Fort: Their bodies will lie in the fortress forever. (speaking of which, someone should totally build a Hogwartz fortress, complete with "secret" passageways and forbidden forest)

Dwarf Fort: Once you go Dwarf, you never go back
or alternatively Once you go Dwarf, you grow a beard.

Dwarf Fort: if you can read this, it already has you in its spell.

I don't get the Clausewitz one. I'm thinking of the Vom Krieg guy. Is there another Clausewitz, or what'm I missing?

No, its him. Relating to his ideas of war which basically guided the world wars into the blood bath of attrition that it became. Specifically the quote that "blood is the price for victory" Although perhaps I should have used Ludendorff since his brute totalitarian ideas of war basically boiled down to "Fuck strategy, just charge the bastards"

/obscure german war philosophy

The "I feel like Hitler Stalin now..." thread in Dwarf Mode Discussion has plenty of choice quotes that could double as taglines. Most of them are about how the greatest evil dicators would be the best DF players too.
