I'll dig all around the tube, so that it can't move.

Set the exposed part of the tunneling tube on fire, by ripping out a chapter from the book, crunching it up into a ball, lighting that, and placing it on the exposed part.

mason:your a little bit more thirsty?(shrug) you dig about four more feet worth of the "sandworm" out using the lightcap from the jeep, it looks very must the sam as the small segment. (five feet uncovered)

adam:you cant tell if the thing is heading one way or the other so you dig holes on both sides to be sure.

kenton:you dig a small trench (about 2feet deep) around the tube connecting them to adam's holes, if it were moving through the sand it wouldn't get away. (although as you look at it it hardly seems to move)

100killer9:you rip a chapter out of your book, crushing it into a ball, you place it on the exposed secton of the tube thing, you then lighting the paper on fire and wait for it to burn...

Event:The translucent tube thing, as if feeling the fire jerks away, unbarying the ends of itself and throwing its mid secton, that had the fire on it, a good five feet away from the heat, it immediately stops moving, and from what you can tell by looking at it is that it is some odd form of transparent snake, aside from momentary scareing 100killer9 with its movement it doesnt do anything else.

well, good job killer: you got the snake (I guess it's more wurm than worm) to dig itself out

apperently the snake thing was sunning (I assume it is reptile-like)
>continue to watch the snake, and it's reactions to what the others are doing to it
>continue to observe the liquid's effect on the others

question, just what are the total dimensions of the snake know that it has surfaced

adam:you play the music box at the snake thing, other then you noticeing that the tone of the notes has changed since last you played it, nothing happens with the snake, it remains motionless.

kenton:you talk to the snake, it doesnt reply.

mason:you watch the snake(about 8 and a half feet long, and 2feet at its widest circumference) which remains motionless, and you also watch the drinkers of the black fluid who are appear to have not changes, you are quite thirsty now.

ed:you open and eat a can of beans and are now full.

100killer9:you pour black liquid on the snake, two things happen, it appears to absorb the liquid on contact, and its head moves a small amount while flicking its black tongue out and back in its mouth for the first time.

take a (small) sip of the black liquid and hope that it isn't a poison that's effects show up after 24 hours (even though the dehydrated snake would appear to speak otherwise)

then I cock the hand gun (just in case), grab my carpenter's hammer (call it a dune based utility),  and climb on top of the desert snake/worm just behind the head.

Threaten the snake with my smaller tube sections, yelling "This is what will happen to you!" to gauge a reaction.

mason:you take a small sip of the black liquid, and go from being quite thirty to feeling quite quenched, you then grab a hammer and cock your handgun, and pounce onto the snake's neck, the snake just sits there.

ed:you check the condensation trap, and find a small amount of black substance in it, where you expected water to be.

100killer9+kenton:you "feed" the snake more of the black liquid, which causes the same reaction everytime, it moves a small amount and flicks its tongue, and you note that one of the subdermal-tubes? is slowly filling with black as you pour the liquid on it.

adam:you threaten the snake with one of your smaller tube sections, it either doesnt understand or doesnt care, or both.

Event:a slight humming sound, like how electic cables buzz, grows to the point of notice.
