I found the "Fun" stuff...
« on: February 27, 2010, 06:05:53 pm »

So I recently opened my first strange circus full of wonderful adamantine.

And TWENTY SEVEN very angry clowns.

Is that typical?

Edit: Two more showed up, bringing us up to 29.
Edit2: I didn't know I was supposed to spoiler... :(

!!SPOILERS!!

In a word: Yes.

In more detail: According to the wiki, the pit contains 2-3 z-levels of demons, each of which contains 10 demons.  All the demons will be of the same type.  Oh, and there's one demon leader somewhere down there.

On a personal note, the same thing happened the first time I cracked open HFS...30 spirits of fire. :o

Surprisepalace! Overseers wanted!
But they never would have given up either. And compared to sitting around in this prison for the rest of my life? Losing is fun.

It's ridiculous. All of my poor dwarves :( Slaughtered like pigs in their own homes. I was always under the impression that there was only 5-6 clowns in the pit. I only killed the ring leader and 8 clowns.

Edit: Clownified

Same thing happened to me last weekend!   :o  My poor fort of 22 ecstatic dwarves turned into a half a dozen tantruming dwarves within a minute.  The horror! The burning stone, hair, skin... smoke clogging the halls and rooms... Animals turned to ashes in and instant in the hallways. The human merchants that were innocently waiting in my depot... The reclaim party of 42 (!) dwarves, also burned to cinders... (Yeah, I'm still new at this, I may need to practice my military skills...)

I really don't WANT adamantine for a little while longer, thanks....

Shouldn't this be spoiler-ed, or at least clownified?

The only notable thing to remember about dwarf beards is that when a pansy human and a dwarf argue over whether or not shaved chicks are better, they're probably not on the same page.

Is there really anyone on this forum who doesn't know about adamantine?

That's a partially serious question.

I suppose it should. I didn't really know that rules existed concerning that. I lost 156 Dwarves to the bastards...

I Knew of Adamantine, but not the "Fun" that was associated with it.  I'd heard of HFS of course, just not specifics of what it was, or the fact that was associated with adamantine   :o

I Figured the thread subject line was enough of a spoiler warning - I wouldn't have read the topic if I hadn't found it last weekend...

Of course it's entirely possible that adamantine ISN'T HFS, and there's even nastier HFS that I haven't discovered yet too...   :-\

OK. If there are people who don't know what HFS is, I'll keep it a spoiler too. Just curious of people actually don't know...then again, I'm the kind who can't resist spoilers so I don't know what it's like to avoid them.

I was digging out a well area for my dining hall and I happened upon the fun stuff, myself.

Weird thing is... there's nothing down there. ._.

If you broke in from above with no walkable route, then they can't path to you and be revealed. Is it full of moghoppers and water?

Apparently having a redundant creature entry causes the game to say, "Oh, look, it's crazy world now. Nothing makes sense! Alligators live in houses!"

So, I give up hope on my current fortress being fun. Then, I break into a circus. I'm ready for fun, and there's not a single clown. I wanted to laugh, y'know? Nothing funny here but ashes.

^ They're invisible. And they're fire-juggling clowns to boot. Have fun.

That's the great thing about this forum. We can derail any discussion into any other topic.
It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.
