That was Ezekiel 37

God seems to like to impress people. In another verse, he sics bears on a gang that insulted a prophet.

Holy crap, I remember that. It wasn't a gang so much as a pack of unruly children.

Okay, that was less funny.

He does not like to have his prophets insulted. The Bible has it's fair share of violence.

And yet stereotypical conservative christian moral guardians try to censor violence, yet the Bible is one of the bloodiest books out there. The irony is delicious.  :D

Yeah, but Christian moral guardians (most are pretty extreme, as well) ignore the Old Testament most of the time.

They only acknowledge parts that agree with their point of view on whatever their going on about. Too bad really. I like the Old Testament.

Wait. If you're referencing that South Park episode, that doesn't... work...

Anyway, yeah, they ignore the Old Testament except when it suits them. And I hate that.

It's very annoying. Especially when they use a verse out of context, and another contradicts their point.

Christianity is built on the new testament. Technically the "Bible" is both the Torah and the Christian Bible. You can be christian and ignore the old testament much as you can be jewish and ignore the new testament.

I thought the New Testament is not canon in Judaism, while the Old Testament is canon in Christianity?

The old testament is cannon in Christianity. Most Christians just consider the new one to "override" anything in the old testament. The old testament was effectively re-written completely and only serves in the christian bible as history footnotes. The differences between the two are so vast, that even if they were indeed inspired by the same deity as they claim to be, you can't lump them together seriously IMO.

There only so much retconning can do.

Honestly, Christianity might be better off without trying to lump in the old testament. Impossible, as it was created from the Jewish culture waiting for their promised messiah, but still. Most bible bashing is bashing the brimstone in the Judaism old testament while people try to defend it with the new testament. If any of the Bible is genuine then it would be the new testament IMO, and God just picked Judaism as convenient to spark it from.
