Or do you just mean "why don't they sit around saying 'why don't you believe in God? What, that's not a very good reason, you should be a christian instead like all good people are' to each other"?
I mean, why don't they sit around saying 'why don't you believe in God? What, that's not a very good reason, XYZ is a better reason not to believe in God. Atheism doesn't need to do anything with theism.

Why did you immediately insert "christian" into there? I haven't even stated my own beliefs on that sort of thing yet, just ranted in which parts of atheism I think are done wrong.
Did you read the red text in the next paragraph?

You're saying atheists should either organize into formal, christian-esque splinter factions, or just stand as one man social groups?
NOT christian-esque, specifically. Right there is a wiff of bigotry from your assumed stance. I'm saying they ALL need to be fragmented. If groups are too large for you guys, then fine, splinter into one for every individual. The douche clusters are not being broken up. Anybody outside of atheism just makes them stronger when they try to break them up. These people NEED to be bitch slapped and broken apart by their peers.
Christianity provides a perfect example of the sort of splinter factions you're talking about, and one that would be familiar to everyone here. Hence its use as a structural model.

Can't you understand that most people JUST. DONT. CARE?  I believe what I believe and I don't care what you do or don't believe in as long as you don't try to convince me that YOUR way is the RIGHT way and that I should acknowledge it.

I don't need to belong to any group.  I may agree with people.  Hell, I may agree with several different groups in different moments.  I may switch and believe whatever works for me at a certain point of life.

The point is.  Stop frigging generalizing.  Stop thinking that we should all behave like you do.  Stop thinking it's black or white.  Stop thinking that stupid people make whatever organization they're in stupid.  If that was true, I could say all youtube commenters are stupid trolls (because there's a lot of them).

Don't simplify this kind of things.  You won't win anything.  You won't CONVINCE anyone.  If you try to do that... You'll experience the opposite reaction...

people with different beliefs/ideas trying to convince the other.

It's useless and pretty lame.

How hard is it, really?  Avoid trying to convince people.  That's all.

Starting a thread dedicated to arguing about religion, you really thought it would be more civil than this?

I can't even convince you to break up atheist douche hives? It's even not my way. I can't do it myself.

You guys don't seem to partake in rooting out the stupids in your own organization yourselves either. Doesn't make the organization stupid, but it makes them look stupid.

I'm going to intentionally cut myself very short when out of it from now on. Rambly goes nowhere. Or refrain from trying to communicate while trying to celebrate with beer.

I'm employed again! Woooooo! Work was great. I'm an overqualified box mover.

I'm asking you guys to distance yourselves from people that make you look bad. This is a reasonable request that anyone else in any other situation would probably acknowledge. There really shouldn't be anyone who opposes this.

Atheism is NOT a religion. It's a category of thought. A school of thought. A collection of similar philosophies.

Ok... fuck me... I lost my post... (and was writing on Chrome instead of using Firefox -with Lazarus recovery- or notepad).

There's some things I would've disputed but it's better this way...

Everyone just do what you frigging want and stop caring about what anybody may think of you.  You've got integrity.

Congrats on the job...

Giant Bold Italic text serves to prove my point.

Any topic that states God does not exist in the first sentence of the first post is, by the way, about religion by default.

I agree with this. Atheistism is on the belief continuum.

It is not, however, a religion. It is about religion, but atheism is specifically the lack of a religion.

Also: It's not so much a collection of philosophies as one philosophy.

Which in itself isn't enough to run one life by.

I dont believe in god/you, doesn't provide answers.

'Should I cheat on my math test? What does atheism say? There no god. ... That doesn't seem to be relevant to my inquiry.'

I don't see how to find answers one must always look to god. There can be morals without religion. IMHO, when people look to god they're just looking for a way to have no responsibility for their actions.
