Syrupleaf: SomethingAwful LP complete!
« on: February 21, 2010, 08:20:40 am »

The latest Dwarf Fortress LP at Somethingawful is complete, and has been uploaded to the Let's Play Archive:

http://lparchive.org/LetsPlay/Syrupleaf/

Lots of death and chaos, as per usual.

Also, swarms of batmen, the spawn of an undead champion, and Molenarok.

Thief:"Quiet kitty, Qui-"
Cat:"THIEF! Protect the hoard from the skulking filth!"
The resulting party killed 20 dwarves, crippled 2 more and the remaining 9 managed to get along and have a nice party.

 DAMMIT.
I don't have time to go through all this! I need sleeeeeeep!

About halfway through now though. I'll finish it when I don't have a ton of other things breathing down my neck.

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

Eugh, this is so long. I'm a little disappointed by the lack of insane leaders. Then again, I've only read as far as Globofglob and there's plenty left...

It's a Something Awful lp. I think four things.
1. Is it a worthy sucessor to headshoots and boatmurdered?
2. It should be decent, as the intelligence level of goons is sufficiently low (they payed $10 for something with many free alternatives) for insanity to exist.
3. ???
4. PROFIT!
(No offense to goons)

Just out of curiosity, what DOES Dwarf Fortress smell like?
Death, Booze, and Insanity.

Actually, DF Goons tend to be as brilliant as anyone on this forum, in my opinion. Insanity can be both brilliant and idiotic. Both can do the same amount of damage. Just in different ways.

And it's modded. The main enemies are horrific fleshy monstrosities with giant toothy maws and claws and...lots of people die. There's lots of blood. And vomit.

It actually builds on the legend of Headshoots.

And there's a dwarf Albert Wesker who works for Parasol.

And surgery. With molten adamantine.

Who, due to a glitch, show up early.
Also, I was kidding. Goons aren't dumber, just... less cheap than me...

It's up to the Goon standard - batshit insane, batshit insane, did I mention batshit insane?
Always a good read.

I just got done reading all of it over the course of the last two days and I am floored by how awesome the Tale of Syrupleaf is. Words cannot express what SA has done this time, you simply have to experience it for yourself. I especially like...

This story was fuggin' epic. Who was that undead champion though? I was reading in other posts about it having huge stats and stuff but I don't remember reading about it in the story...

Holistic Detective is from HeadShoots, another SA DF LP.

Just got to Daeren's section.

It feels like I'm re-living Boatmurdered. He reminds me of that one player, "Stark Raving Mad" was it? The one who coined the phrase, "WELCOME TO FUCKING BOATMURDERED! HOPE YOU LIKE MIASMA!"

That was my favorite player.
