Friendship Wheel
« on: February 19, 2010, 11:43:06 pm »

You know the facebook app friendship wheel?

Basicly it looks at all your friends and all your friends friends and which of your friends are friends with your other firends and generates a graph displaying this infomation in the form of a wheel. The wheel has all your friends names around the outside and lines connecting who knows who.

Something like this for showing your dwarfs relationships would be awsome :D

Umm... No, I don't know that app, nor use facebook, however...

If you go into the (u)nit view, (v)iew a specific dwarf, then look at (r)elationships, you'll notice that you can still (v)iew dwarves on that relationship menu, letting you then go on to view their (r)elationships, and (v)iew their friends through a theoretically infinite chain already.

True, however this takes lots of time, especially when fortresses grow. This would probide a quick glance tool.

Although it's not strictly useful it would be damn interesting.

Giving you lots of information without having to go through several menus to look for the specific thing you want isn't exactly a strong point in Dwarf Fortress.  There's a reason things like Dwarf Therapist exist.  You'd probably be better off trying to mention it to the guys making that utility...

I've already suggested a third-party Friend Wheel app, though a DF alternative would be a kind of table format, like this:

Code: [Select]

              Dwarf 1       Dwarf 2       Dwarf 3       Dwarf 4       Dwarf 5
Dwarf 1                     Friends
Dwarf 2   Sibling                          Friends
Dwarf 3   Friends
Dwarf 4                     Friends       Parent (3-4)                  Lovers
Dwarf 5

Why would that be needed? Couldn't different coloured lines represent different types of relationships?

http://apps.facebook.com/friendwheel/

Unfortunatly it doesn't work for dwarves  :(

Unless you make EVERY dwarf in your fortress a facebook page.

I think that'd break some kinda rule..

I think even facebook would get questionable about Urist McCrafter, Urist McMason, Urist McHammerer all joining from the same IP range.

But if someone does this, please, let me know so I can add them as friends ;)
