Yeah that can be useful, and maybe the upgrade thing too... though it may seem dumb, sometimes I want to upgrade soldiers to different paths so that I can have skirmishers and infantry, so I don't really use that =p

recruits to militia would make more sense, especially if you upgrade like 40 or them at a time =p

It's such a small (or at least inconspicuous) feature, but playing old M&B mods it's lack becomes very noticeable.

It's mostly useful with certain troop trees that only go one way, like Sword Sisters, Manhunters and Nords. ^{_{Nordic Archers? What are those?}}

Leave your army somewhere and singlehandedly force them to give you supplies, then slay all of them when they resist. That'll teach them to stop paying reverse taxes.

What do you do with all the loot?

Sell them for an extra 500 gold pieces?

As a commander character, I'd just use the loot...  if it didn't mean my troops would get slaughtered like pigs by the auto-calc after I go down...

Huh?  What version are you playing?  4.5 gold, (the latest version as far as I know) has every character start out as a prince (or princess) of one of the countries that was conquered by the empire in the old land and starts them out with appropriate equipment.
