Star Rule is on sale for FIVE DOLLARS. If you don't have it and you like space, get it on Steam for a pittance. Sale ends in like 22 hours.

aurora and star ruler are both 4x games set in space, but they are not very simular. Star ruler is a much pretty graphical game than aurora, and less hard core than aurora. But having said that star ruler is not light weight by the genres standards. At 5 dollars if you pm me asap (i.e before the sale ends) i'll gift it too you.

watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9DiKsy8c68&feature=fvst this should give you an indication to what the battles are like at any rate.

de5me7, I appreciate that offer very much, but I would feel bad having it gifted when I could afford to purchase it myself. How about offering to gift it to someone who isn't able to purchase it for one reason or another?

Have I mentioned how much I love this community? If I didn't already had it. It's a pretty good game. The AI is scarily good though.

I've been playing this game thanks to the Steam Sale.

I may end up buying more copies for friends soon. This game is really awesome and exactly the kind of space strategy game I've been wanting to play for quite a while. Can't believe I never bothered checking it out sooner!

Good job to any of the developers that may be reading this!

Kind of on that note, I am a little curious. How much does a 75% steam sale reduce the amount of money developers get? Is it 75%?

The jury is still out for me a little bit, but it could just still be the learning curve factor. But if I turn out to love this game as much as some of the other 4x, I'd feel bad of the developers only got 23 cents.

It actually looks very interesting, but the last 4X game I played was...a long time ago. I think the name started with an A, and you could customize your ships and build buildings on your colonized planets and travel to different areas via wormholes or something(I know, great description right?). Then there was another one that I can't seem to remember where planets had habitability ratings or some sort of number that dictated how valuable they were, and it was just one entire map, so I spent the whole game frantically trying to take over as much as I could and beating back enemy forces as best as I could.

Come to think, those games were actually very fun. By the time I free up enough money to purchase this game though, the daily sale's going to be over. I'm content to watch this game from the sidelines.

the game your thinking of might be ascendancy, which was the first 4x i played. I like it alot.

just to repeat the sale has (at time of typing) 7 hours left to run. The first person that gives me their steam account id gets gifted a copy, hint hint Kusgnos

Thank you very much for that, too!

This game's fun, but about as difficult as Aurora. Maybe it's time to do the Tutorial? xD

this games got harder with each release. I could win back at .40 now we at .80

general question for star ruler players. How do you get your empire up and running with out the economy crashing at a rate comparable with the AI. You used to just be able to pour our your minions (colony ships) in to the void and simply out cap them on planets, this has been tweeked out, fair enough, but now even the easiest level AI can out expand me and have a functioning economy. If expand fast (even if i think im expanding fast, the AI is still somehow faster) i have no res in galactic bank and all my planets take about 15mins to get up to 5 structures, an AI colonise a planet in my system and gets up to that planets full 15 structures in 3 mins + several (arbiet rather small and crappy) orbital stations. If i expand slow the economy does better (but not that much i still run out of stuff in the galatic bank, just not quite so much) and the AI quickly doubles my colonisation rate then comes and rapes my fleet of 10 ships with literally 50+ ships of higher tech and 10x more hits (my hits are counted in K, the ais in M) and more fire power.

is there a must do build order? Do i have to micro manage each planet, if so how, what would a normal expansion rate be like? planet colonisations per time? Should i research is a certain order? I usually start out with 2 in economics, 3 in gen science then propulsion energy science then 2 in most other things in no particualar order. I cant find any uptodate info (the game is update so often most of the threads on blind mind, or utube vids are long out of date).
