Yes, the hair on the left side of my head presently has decided to simply go sideways and curl slightly upwards.

I don't understand either.

As you can see, I'm trying to hate it into submission. No success so far.

My hair sometimes does a similar thing.
I find slathering it in conditioner helps.

Had long, curly, shoulder-long hair some time ago, often having the same problem.
Well, now I wear it short, as long hair is no longer an option.

My hair does weird things in the morning. I acquired the incredibly thick and wavy hair of my grandfather, who infamously had to get a haircut every month so that his mining helmet would still fit. Because I sleep like a tornado, it takes an incredible amount of finagling to make it go any direction other than 'goddamn everywhere'. Some people spend ten minutes on their hair to make it look perfect. I spend two minutes combing my hair, five minutes swearing at it, and three minutes afterward making sure it doesn't just pop back into its previous position.
