I tried it, but none of my modifier keys are apparently the key to right-clicking. Actually, this is the first time I've had this problem.

So, I just started this game and looked up this thread. I'm still learning all the ins and outs of the game. Just like DF, the wiki was a great help.

Well me and 2 other DF players have finally been able to play and have made a small camp called Breadstolen (because someone stole our bread ), could anyone active right now send me a hearthcode so that we can kin and make a party or something, to know where you guys are with respect to us?

It'd probably be hard to come mine at our place. I am on an epic quest to find wheat, though, so I may as well explore in your direction and prospect for you, if you're within 2 or so supergrids.

Currently, what we'd really like is some way to travel to your village... what would we need for that? Just join the village?

BTW, our camp has grown to a total of 5 members now. And a half-dozen houses.

I'm going to see what I can do to raise my Farming level, but without any Straw I'm stuffed (Hurr hurr geddit NO.) on that front short of divine intervention.

Well, you have to create a new character if you want to start off in the village.  Otherwise it's a long and dusty road to get there (filled with bears that will rip you to shreds).  You have to talk to the guy in the top-most corner of the starting area; enter the village's hearth secret, and go down the stairs that open up.
