Forums are for relatively long-term (as in, over hours and days and weeks and months) communication.

You can already tell if someone's signed in and browsing. You don't need to know that they just went to bed or that they're eating or whatever.

I'm going to play Devil's Advocate anyway and at least try to understand the purpose of a single place where people might say "hey, I'm going to be gone for a month" or similar, but I am not sure it's necessary to have some single thread for it.

... and people certainly don't need to post when they're signing online or going to bed.

And yeah, don't click the Report button. I know that people posting in threads are generally supposed to not derail them and keep the thread owner's wishes in mind, but seriously, that doesn't mean we aren't allowed to even question you or remark on the subject, especially when you didn't even say not to. Hell, even if you did.

You're being ridiculous. Calm down, go outside or otherwise DO something, then come back and look at this again.

Been talking on Omegle.  Was talking to a Twilight fangirl who claimed not to be a fangirl who decided my name was John and made up a life story about me where I was made fun of in school and then went to college and lost my virginity to someone in that show Glee.  I told her I was from a lame state and she immediately guessed Ohio.  I knew Ohio sucked, but come on.  Anyway, I accidentally hit backspace and disconnected.  Almost slightly disappointed.  Talked to another person and will never be able to ride a plane again.  People on Omegle have good grammar today.

Seriously. The trolling isn't helping.

You aren't just trolling Armok here, you're making the situation worse in general, and that includes the situation that the moderators of this forum have to deal with.

Do I have to start a Toady Annoyance Jar, similar to a swear jar, where if you give him more of a headache about something you have to give him a dollar donation?

I suppose if it effect mafias or DnD then telling people of an absence is helpful, but it's better to actually post in the relevant thread.

And yes, as realmfighter says, the best way to respond to things like this is to ignore them.

Armok getting banned has been a foregone conclusion ever since he wrote that treatise about how he couldn't live without the forum.  The hammer of Toadocles hangs heavy over his head.

Moin, you're thinking of Moin.

Now that's an authentic forum legend.

Also good lord it's hard to get a reply in edgewise here, between the forum timeouts and the unceasing stream of spam.

The one where he said he'd spam porn if he ever got banned?  Yeah, that was to Armok what slicing up Stratholme was to Arthas.  The point where you realized "Whoa, this guy's nuts"

Honestly? That's what worries me here.

This all carries a lot of heavy emotional consequence for Armok. Whether it should or not, it just does, and that's probably why he's still here.

It's just a really stupid situation all-around and the spam isn't helping a single bit. I don't really get the logic behind "This situation is really stupid, so the solution is to make it even more stupid".

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.
