Who this man?
« on: November 09, 2009, 07:35:21 am »

thisman.org

Allegedly, a couple thousand people have dreamt of this guy ...uh, this man, without ever having seen him before. I just skimmed the site. So have you dreamt of this man? Is it a sign of the returning messiah? Or a deep feature of the chimpanzee brain somehow coming to life again?

Quote from: According to Logicpunk at Metafilter
The registrant of thisman.org, Andrea Natella, is the director of guerrigliamarketing.it, an advertising agency that uses non-conventional communication techniques, like the creation of fictitious events or campaigns reaching the limits of legality, through which they 'fuck the market in order to enter it'.

Sounds like it's likely to be 'total crock' to me.

Nicccccce thanks for finding that

I only looked at like the first two tabs

I was assuming it was just an urban legend but this is even better

Ooooh oooh oooh! I just found this on their site:

Quote
In the last few weeks some individuals have been trying to stop this website's research, claiming that we might have a hidden marketing agenda. This is false!
Those individuals are probably just scared, of what This Man could soon be announcing in many people's dreams.
The best way to deal with such accusations, after all, is to just blatantly deny them, right?

Ah yes, the false memories phenomenon, that's a fun one.

Tests have shown that suggesting to someone in a strong manner that they should remember something will, in something like 70ish percent of cases, cause that person to spontainiously generate the memory in question.

My number might be off, but i do remember the number was above 50, and statistically significant, i have in fact experienced this myself (and it works in reverse too) and i was (and still am) fascinated by the concept.

Your senses and memories are far more malleable than you might think.

He has a very short head. But other than that, I think that dreams are based on what happens or what you see in real life. So basically if someone told you about him, heard about him, or saw the website he'll probably be in your dreams. That's my theory though.
