Man, I used to be so good at that.  What happened to me and my dialectic?  I never vocalize anyone's feelings.

Thankfully, there was never any hint of DESU, etc. stuff here, but not dissimilar problems once upon a time.

On another forum, I used to serve in the capacity of a translator when someone with truly abominable English skills came along.  Apparently, I was the only one who could understand them enough to piece out what they were saying and rephrase it so everyone else could get it.

I'm not entirely sure how they took to having their posts translated like that.

And by the way, there have indeed been a couple outbreaks of DESU.  Not big, and generally used in an instance where they specifically made fun of it, but that's how these things always start now innit?


Heh...  I still think it's funny that just about the only thing that hasn't changed at all since when I first joined is how highly we think of ourselves.  We've changed or dropped some of the things we were proud of before to accommodate new times, but the feeling of higher enlightenment has stayed exactly the same.


And, as usual, we managed to turn someone's welcome post into a derail about ourselves.  They're gonna get one hell of a surprise in the morning when they see what this thing's turned into.

Well the problem with welcome threads is that once you've said "Welcome, that's WorkerDrone in the corner watch you fingers when you feed him." There really isn't much else to say so derailment is inevitable. I'm wondering if a dedicated New to B12 thread could solve this? A sticky where new forumgoers can post their introductory post which hopefully won't get derailed.

You realize of course that this will be impossible unless it's also a rule that you may only post if you are in fact new and posting an introduction, and that 'old' members may only view, not post.

Otherwise the fidgeting will be unstoppable in the part of our userbase with less self control.
