Deon's modular mods [creatures + stone beds + elfcoal]

I thought that it's time to start picking creatures out of my mods to make them avaliable for anyone who wants to have them in their own mod.

Deon's Various Creatures Pack


It has graphics for every creature in case you use graphical tilesets. And while it's quite small, I will make it more complete with a time.

Just unpack everything in your RAW folder, don't be afraid that it asks "do you want to overwrite the contents of graphics/objects folders?" , all files are unique and do not overwrite anything.

Note that you have to start a new world to have all the creatures.

In case you don't like some type of a creature, you may delete it from the corresponding file or remove the file totally.

Current file groups:
creature_deons_snow.txt
Frost imp, arctic fox, snow troll, giant ice scorpion, mammoth

creature_deons_hot.txt
Jungle imp, jungle cobra, sand cobra

creature_deons_undead.txt
Ghost, banshee, mummy, roaming mummy, lich, golden lich, ghoul, vampire, ancient vampire

creature_deons_magma.txt
(you may want to remove it if you want to have an access to magma without difficulties; it's like a minor HFS)
Burning noble, melting child, oblivion burner, flame offspring, firey hornet



Deon's DnD Aberrations Pack

As a separate download, here's a pack of DnD aberrations, mostly beholder-focused, all with custom organs which I took from the "I, Tyrant" book. I tried to be specific :P.


Aboleth, Illithind, Beholder, Beholder mage, Beholder hive mother, Beholder elder orb, Gouger beholder-kin, Deathkiss beholder-kin, Eye of the deep beholder-kin, Umber hulk, Gelatinous cube.

Deon's Stone Bed mod

This mod allows you to turn any stone in an appropriate stone bed in a smelter.
It took some time to make it.

Create a reaction_stonebed.txt in your /raw/objects/ folder and insert the following text:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You have to generate a new world for this to work.


Deon's Elven Coal mod

This mod allows you to turn wooden weapons, armors, shields, helmets, leggings, boots and gloves into coal via a smelter. Now you have some use for those dropped elven items.

Create a reaction_elfcoal.txt in your /raw/objects/ folder and insert the following text:

You have to generate a new world for this to work.

You don't have just the text files handy do you? I don't have WinRar, and I ain't planning on buying it.

There are some errors:

1. Mammoths have [CHILDNAME:elephant calf:elephant calves].
2. burnin noble incarnation]
3. Frost imp have [MAGMA_VISION] - this is paradox, isn't it?

I am sure playtested it, but ffs. I didn't make mammoths to breed and I didn't see multiple liches, this must be the cause :D.
I must check my raws more often, I usually check others while I have such errors here :P.

Thank you, I will fix it in a minute.
Thankfully it won't require a world regen in case someone from downloaders have started a new world already.

The Lich's itemcorpse should be spelt "Phylactery" and its second attack message is a little wierd; "the lich chants a curse and points you in the face". I like the flaming creatures though, and the mummies. The second mummy seems particularly vicious. Might make a cool pair with the nightwing...

Well, I may rephrase the attack messages :), you are right. Also thanks for "phylactery". I need to run a spell checker through my raw files :D.

Is "the lich chants a curse and bashes you in the face" better? :D

P.P.S. GOD DAMN IT! Phylactery! I knew I forgot something, the toy named phylactery :D. Ehh, sorry, removing that part for now. I will try not to crowd items and entities with my creatures.

If you REALLY wanted to be fancy, you could say Reliquary instead of Phylactery, since a Reliquary was a container for the bones and relics of saints, wheras a phylactery is something worn on your body. But I dunno. D&D's management is pretty powerful. Maybe they'd track you down and duff you up.

Oh, I downloaded 7zip now. Sorry for the inconvenience. Now I can steal the Dark Dwarves' stuff!

I've decided not to multiply threads and instead make it a "modular mods by Deon" thread.

I've added a mod which adds ability to turn stones into appropriate beds via a smelter and another one which allows to burn elven wooden armor and weapons into coal via a smelter. Both require a generation of a new world to work.

I noticed that the Illithids have a SPEARMAN name in the raws, yet they have no CIV entry. Does this mean that they have the possibility of spawning with spears, or is that just in case one gets a spear?

Nah, it's a leftover from a "Legends of Faerun" mod of me, I forgot to remove it. Basically they had "telepaths" which used natural attacks and "guardians" which yielded enchanted spears and had heavy armor. It doesn't make anything but renaming one if it acquires a spearman skill.

1.03
- Fixed Gabbro bed reaction (used diorite instead of gabbro).
- Fixed arctic fox child name (was "fox pup", now "arctic fox pup").
- Giant ice scorpion now has 200-300 maxage instead of 20-30. It was too short for such a strong creature which costs 2500 base pet points :P.

Sometimes I feel like I should look back and fix my previous flaws :P.

I love modularity over mixmods, gives more control over own game mix...
