So I have napoleon.

I am disappointed with ship battles, I thought they would be more fun.

Also, box formations are hilariously overpowered. COME ON, 20 MAMELUKE ARMY, FACE MY 5 GRENADIER REGIMENTS, I DARE YOU!

Box formations are overpowered? They should be good vs Cavalry and hilariously shit against everything else! It goes Square/Box > Cavalry, Cavalry > Line, Line > Square/Box. Columns are an effective psychological weapon, but they suffer like the Box does (Not all men get to fire) in a battle against a well disciplined line.

I've read too much Bernard Cornwell to accept the Square being an anti-everything formation.

Well, it works in this game :P

I'm also approving of the fire and advance tactic. That tactic lead me on to destroy Britain in the Egyptian campaign with only half their troops.

Question about Medieval II. Is there a known problem with the Kingdoms expansion installing patch 1.2? Before my laptop got fucked I attempted several times to install kingdoms, even uninstalling then reinstalling vanilla, and I got the same problem.

As far as I know you should be fine. You're gonna have to be more specific though.

Quick googling got me this if it helps http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=126588

Minor necro, but considering the number of Medieval II (and Rome) LPs I thought this thread might be useful again.

Anyone found a good way to avoid being at war with the entirety of Europe?

Yeah Stainless steel is awesome, diplomacy is much better too, usually if you take one settlement or defeat the enemy in a major battle peace can be attained easily.

I think my favorite thing about Stainless Steel is not all the awesome bug fixes, diplomacy changes, etc etc, but the simple fact that families have consistent last names.

This alone has made me want this mod.

Could we get a link to that mod?

I've been meaning to mod my game.

Make sure to check out the other hosted modifications too, Dues Vult if you like a more character focused game, Third Age if you like lord of the rings. Etc Etc.

Doesn't Stainless Steel require the Kingdoms expansion? I'd love a version for the original game, I've always liked that mod.

There isn't much out for Non-Kingdoms M2TW.
