Back when I was new at Adventure Mode, I got a quest to kill a giant jaguar. So I got a couple of companions to ward off the Bogeymen and set off. I arrived at the den, started sneaking, and found the jaguar immediately around the corner. I panicked and directionally attacked it. I scratched it in the head so hard that I not only shattered the skull, but tore the brain. It never even spotted me.

And there a Giant Badger ferociously attacked me, and as I helplessly lashed out against its head suddenly it stopped moving after its head was cut off by a stray swing of my sword.

And then later I died to kobold ambushers at the freezing peak of a mountain.
RIP First Adventurer.

I think the best moments I've had were in a run on the 31.25 civilization forge where I went on a rampage killing things with a big bag of money.

And a recent adventure where I killed a gloom troll with a ladle.

Throwing is not epic as it is bugged in df currently, in real world you cannot decapitate a person by throwing a sock.

I beg to differ.

Given the definition of "throw" to be "to propel or cast", it would be trivial to construct a device that could throw a sock with sufficient force to decapitate a person.

being bored of being able to survive decently well so far in the game, i decided to start building fortresses in haunted biomes. the very first place i went to was right next to the ocean, a river separated the haunted top half of the map from the rather lovely and calm bottom half, my dwarves (in some holy twist of fate) drove their caravan for the bottom half. about three times a month, the top half is completely covered in human blood that rains from the sky.

its a rather long story, so I've spoilered it for convenience. but dwarf fortress has never been as good as the time it rained something actually useful.

now, i had been building up the fortress for a decent while, deciding to make a series of above-ground towers, that way if any undead from the haunted half of the map decided to swim the river, they would not be able to get the elevated dwarves, who would then be able to go to town on them with crossbows.

every single wave of monsters which shambled their way from the north generally kept to their own, couple of dogs would scare people off on the border, but never swim across or attack, i suppose the river couldn't be crossed.

now this is where Armok decides to be a dick.

from that point onward, not one, not two, but EVERY SINGLE WAVE of creatures that came from the north were undead Ravens. how can they be bad you may ask? at this point the towers were not complete, being walkways without any walls. the ravens would systematically knock dwarves off the side and then feast on them when they broke a leg or two after hitting the floor.

now my crossbow-dwarves hadn't been working for a fair while, and most of the ravens only died from having their wings ripped off while on the walkways or by sheer luck. eventually a crossbow-dwarf got his shit together and actually killed one of the buggers before he could cross the border. it rained blood again shortly after.

the raven promptly stood back up and flew towards our fortress, only to be shot again after flying outside of the rain. slightly suprised as this was my first time dealing with haunted weather, i paid more attention to alive creatures walking around the top half.
i noticed a badger getting soaked in the human blood for quite some time, and suffering no ill effects from it whatsoever.
the second it died during the rain from a hunters bolt however, it resurrected into a zombie

...this map could turn anything that was caught in its rain as long as it was dead, and could constantly revive creatures that would be slain, the potential for abuse was so intense that i dropped all other projects just to set to work.
my map had already been attacked by goblins a few times, and every time almost the entire melee squad was brutally killed, save the commander. she was the only one who had any training in actual combat before, having been chief raven-slayer.

so i did the only normal thing that a dwarf would do. I built a gigantic Colosseum in the middle of the blood-rains and stocked it with as many corpses as i could.

every third month or so, BloodScreams The Armoured Fortress of Hatred gathers to watch its glorious military fight for the entertainment and training they so desperately need, and to appease their Glorious god Armok, so that the world may continue another year. sometimes special three-way brawls are held whenever goblin raids are foolish enough to wander into the cage trap-lined streets of the majestic fort.

Dwarf fortress has never been as fun as the time i lucked out and had the t-virus rain from the sky.

Most epic moment would have to be one-shotting a Roc with a thrown iron arrow, just after evading it's attack while unwittingly trying to sneak past it. Mind you, I was playing an an untrained peasant at the time, and as a modded human the size of an ant to boot.

I must disagree. Sock is light thus air resistance has great impact on flight speed and trajectory. Only case I can think of is compressing the sock and throwing it afterwards with great force. Or using a sock so old and smelly that the victim would rather cut his head of than get a single breath with the sock close to his mouths

I can't say that's true; the sock could easily be rolled into a ball-like shape (using the elastic of the ankle to hold it in place) and dampened, thus granting enough density to effectively mitigate the effects of drag. The additional mass from the dampness would also assist in decapitation.
