Because I don't want to. I'm still pretty upset with her, and have no desire to talk to her. Had she just been a friend, she'd have been defriended already, and she's certainly made no move towards reconciliation... but she hasn't unfriended me either.

I don't care how she is, I just want to go back to not knowing anything about her, but I can't bring myself to remove her from my friends list. -_-
I kinda feel ya there. My half-sister and I have been estranged ever since I made a 13-year break in communications with my father (and by extension, her since she was living with him). She was 5 when I vanished, and a very bitter 18 when I finally re-established contact. She's 24 now. We've talked maybe a grand total of an hour in the last six years, most of that because my father insisted and was sitting right there or because she actually gets along well with my wife. It's a sad for me, because I feel like I deserve it, but I'd rather her just get it all out and curse me out and yell at me and even hit me so we can move on and become semi-siblings. She's polite to me when we talk, but it's pretty clear she'd just rather not be around me.  :-[

You too, huh. I haven't talked to or seen my half brothers in... a few (three, four?) years now, mostly because they're still living with my father who I want basically nothing to do with (unless he's been sober for a fair period, which, still no.). Feel kinda' iffy about it at times, but... eh. I'd probably feel worse if I hadn't been mid-teens by the time they came around and pretty well developed without 'em, I guess.

They came up to ask me for help or somethin' and it was in my power I'd chip in at the drop of a hat, but actually being around the padre... nah. Rather not.

This

No Jurassic part for me.
Cons:
  • No dinosaurs.

Pros:
  • Potential to bring back species from the dead. Dodos, GIGANTIC EAGLES, no doubt marine life will fall under this rapidly increasing bracket...
  • The Velociraptor apocalypse has been postponed. Now we only have to fear potential space lizards.

We're well on our way for mammoth's I believe. I think we got the Dna for those already, and we got elephant Dna to patch it up.

Lets save the elephants, polar bears, eagles, big cats, etc. before we start bringing back monstrocities.  Think of how hard our ancestors worked to rid the world of them!

If we let those die out now, the Extinct animal cloning industry of the future will be ensured. That's the point of a sustainable economy, right?

Nope, there's logic. It's just that I missed the point so much I entered a Geocentrical orbit.

Yay! Now's a useful time to show why philosophy is useful.

What Ebbor said was incredibly logical. Dropping all conservation plans to add monetary incentive to cloning them back into existence-all logical.

~HOWEVER~

It is very unreasonable and ethically questionable to drive a species into extinction for the sake of bringing it back to life. Therefore, it is a logical - but unreasonable argument.

I wouldn't call it "unreasonable." The difference is in value; is money important, or ethics concerning currently living animals? Which has more "value"?

I'd say the ethics part but hey.

Quote from: Chesterton
For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.
