Really big politics essay due tomorrow at 11am. Spent most of today and yesterday working on it. Only... I'm using about 10-12 books as research material for quotes/info, and I was going through them all at the library yesterday (can't really take that many books home), but despite my putting them back as closely as possible to where they were all from, I can't find about eight of them today. I asked at the front desk but they're supposedly back on the shelves. Can't find them anywhere.

This puts a serious damper on my ability to support my argument (or hell, finish this in any decent shape at all).

I slept really well, woke up, and suddenly feel like a completely different person.

I kinda hate it when this happens.

Language changes.
Yeah. I understand not wanting our advances in language to drift from some sources, but there is ultimately nothing wrong with the word itself.

She's older.  A lot older.

Well, I guess this is why we have spring break, and so on--to give us time to sleep in and grow up.  But I definitely feel older, all of a sudden.

Okay, so, today this girl I know-Lauren, just took a sudden dis-interest in talking to me. Is she just on her period or something?

AAAAAAAGGGHHHHHHHHHHH...
Madre, why must you chose to make your children fit and put them on a 2 hour limit of any form of electrical technology, kicking them out to play outside afterwards?

The first thing my dad does when he comes home is go into a huge rant about how I drink too much soda and how I chug several cans every day and it's terrible for my bones why would I buy this stuff I'm poisoning myself and my mind itself is wrong to encourage such a habit.

I had one two days ago, none yesterday and one today. He then spotted three cans in the trash that has not been emptied in months.

Yeah yeah I know he's just ranting to blow off steam from other unrelated crap, but for fucks sake man. This probably wouldn't bother me so much if he didn't outright ignore every fact I said above. The only time he acknowledged me talking was at the very end of the lecture when he said "Don't make excuses!" Argh, I'll place this next to your helpful advice like "Don't assume!" when I had to make an estimation and it was wrong and "Don't swallow!" when I finished my food a minute before everyone else at dinner.

I hold the belief that even if you don't really hold respect for ones parents in the way you would for everyone else you should still hold some respect for them as your parents. This is the ideal. Some parents do such a lousy job of being parents that they don't deserve that respect, but this is limited to parents who abandon/endanger/torment their children. My father provides for the family and cares about our well-being aside from personal gain, so he doesn't match any criteria to deserve not having my respect.

This ideal could be difficult to maintain.

Duke, I don't think that kind of behavior is acceptable at all. Just becaus he happens to be your father does not give him any right to "blow of steam" on your expense. It's bullshit, nothing else. You might not be able to do anything about it - I don't know how open your father would be to chancing himself and the way he acts - but you sure as hell shouldn't delude yourself into thinking it's okay behavior. It isn't.
