I also blame Soli. I think we need to start a petition, but I have to sleep during the middle of the day due to his keeping us up now.

Stop blaming sombody else. I'm bloody nocturnal and I only get five hours of sleep.

And on topic, I can't actually sleep for more than 5-5 1/2 hours at a time.

After reading the most recent dev logs for DF, I came to the sobering realization that there needs to be a corollary to Moore's Law.

Toady's Law: The amount of processing power required to run Dwarf Fortress at an acceptable frame rate doubles roughly every 12-18 months.

Eventually even when we're running 144-core 20GHz AMD Metatrons, it'll still be tough to get 30FPS. Because by then it will be running an algorithm based on Mazlow's hierarchy for every creature in the game world simultaneously, all while using a particle physics engine to calculate combat effects and fluid flows.

FUUUUUUUUU-

Kryptic trojans are back. I'm going into a computer "lockdown". I'll only download stuff like Dwarf Fortress or Doom RL, I won't go on any websites other than the ones I trust 100 percent and I'll scan my computer every few hours. I don't think I'll be able to get rid of these viruses, but if I'm lucky, I just might.

Define "acceptable framerates" and "processing power", and you'll be all set. :p

Just scan your computer with MBAM in Safe Mode. If that doesn't do it, make a backup and reformat; it'll get rid of anything.

I'm using ESET-Smart Security 4. Apparantly, that deletes them just fine. If the "computer lockdown" situation dosen't go well and I find out the viruses really are coming from internal sources, I think I'll concider the safe mode MBAM scan. Anyway, what is MBAM?

So it's day 4 of my holiday back to the UK, and my brother dragged me off to go to a club. It was actually fairly fun to talk to his friends and such, and I liked seeing the interesting people, but I of course felt really awkward about not drinking anything, especially since everyone is offering to buy me a drink, I'm guessing this was mostly because I seemed tense. Of course it was a really bad time to start, specifically because I was feeling a bit queasy because of the migraine I had.

Then of course there was the hearing issue. The fact that I'm hypersensitive (which means I have trouble filtering things out), plus that I'm hearing accents I'm not used to, meant that I could barely understand anyone over the music. It got a little easier, but sort of nodding my head and pretending I heard, and asking everyone to repeat everything in my ear got rather annoying... Why do they have to play music so loud anyway? I suppose I understand keeping it loud on the dance floor, but does it need to blared out on max volume everywhere?

I'm really just far too frigging awkward, it was actually a fun time, even if I was a stick in the mud. But I felt like I was holding everyone back, and feel really embarrassed by the whole thing. This is les sad...

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.
Good thing to keep around on a flashdrive or some-odd.

I love it when people make threads about how awesome they are, and then when people disagree with them they lock it in a huff.
