I seale myself out of my own fort...
« on: September 29, 2009, 04:33:26 pm »

Alright, well I had a very prosperous fort going. I struck adamantine earlier, killed the HFS, wiped out siege after siege, got the economy running, king went berzerk and was killed by the fortress guard... you know, the usual. Boredom set in, so I made myself a nice set of adamantine platemail and a weapon, abandoned and came back with my adventurer. I pulled the lever that sealed the entrance since I didn't want anything sneaking up on me while I was looting, and started searching for my armor.

I didn't find it in the living area, and I didn't find it in the smithys shop, so I decided to check out my bottomless pit. As I was walking the perimeter looking for it...

"The Giant Rat attacks you"
"You stumble backwards!"
"You fall!"

So... now I'm sitting on the ledge below, that I never actually excavated, with a mangled leg. I can't go anywhere, so I travel out of the fortress and come back to continue looting.

Wait, what do you mean my entrance is sealed? How did I get ou- oh... wait...

Reclaim it and pull the lever, also its best to make many sets of adamantine when abandoning a fort for an adventurer, if you make only one set you'll spend many hours searching for it.

My armor is made of a combination of calluses, scar tissue, dried blood and vomit.
You know the old saying. Elves are only good for two things. Dying and porn.

Make sure the armor is put into a lead bin, the bin is heavy enough that it isn't "scattered about" after abandoment more that a space or two, if at all.

Y' know what's even easier? Leave it in the forge. Items in a building stay in the building on abandon.

Christ, are you dwarves or are you elves? If you think Hell has too many demons, then you kill them till the population reaches an acceptable number.
