Playing as human- need help with raw file
« on: September 24, 2009, 07:21:10 pm »

I have a human fortress going.
corkscrew is not showing up on my carpenter workshop list:

my entity_default.txt:
(/DF/raw/objects/entity_default.txt)
Spoiler: entitydefault (click to show/hide)

Did I not add the trap components correctly?

Thanks.

That needs a regen to take effect.

I know, it sucks. You can wait for the dwarves to bring some trap components, if you've got them set to come.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ARRRRG

Quote
To start a "Human fort" (or, alternately, an Elven retreat or Goblin tower) one need only add the tag [CIV_CONTROLLABLE] to the entity_default.txt file in the /raw/objects folder, under whichever race you wish to play. You should only do this after having already generated a world, otherwise you may encounter bugs. It's also advisable to only have one race playable at a time by removing the [CIV_CONTROLLABLE] tag from all but the race you wish to play, for similar reasons.
In order to build trap components, you will also need to add the following to the Human entry in entity_default:
Code: [Select]
        [TRAPCOMP:ITEM_TRAPCOMP_GIANTAXEBLADE]
[TRAPCOMP:ITEM_TRAPCOMP_ENORMOUSCORKSCREW]
[TRAPCOMP:ITEM_TRAPCOMP_SPIKEDBALL]
[TRAPCOMP:ITEM_TRAPCOMP_LARGESERRATEDDISC]
[TRAPCOMP:ITEM_TRAPCOMP_MENACINGSPIKE]
*my yellow

What the mother F. The wiki tried to succeeded in tricking me...
now I have a fucking problem... Gah...

Thanks for the heads up Jim... even if you brought me bad news

EDIT:

I THOUGHT I had them set to come, but have not seen them yet... so that probably means the wiki fucked me over again, huh?

If they were visible via embark screen, they will surely come. When playing dwarves, sometimes I get humans/elves in 3-4 year... patience :P

Check the dwarves' entity entry. If they don't have the [PROGRESS_TRIGGER_?:?] tags, they won't come. Add them if they don't.

As you know Haspen, the elves came quick:-) Dwarves were on the embark screen but have not seen any yet.

I have the entitydefault in the spoiler above. Humans and elves have the tags, dwarves do not.
Can I add them without regen?
And, what exactly should I add?
Here are some snippets to show what the other ones have:
Spoiler: elf (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: human (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: goblin (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: kobold (click to show/hide)

You can add them without a regen, and they will take effect immediately.

Add all of three of them. Just to be sure.

1,2,3 etc here are your fortress "levels". You gain population levels/wealth levels/export levels with a set number of values, like immigrants for population, total cost of items with wealth, total cost of sold items with export etc. You can note wealth status by a bookkeeper title (Treasurer at 100,000 fortress wealth, Grand Treasurer at 200,000 fortress wealth, Hoardmaster at 300,000 fortress wealth) and population with fortress status (a sheriff avaliable at lvl 2, 20 dwarves; a mayor avaliable at lvl 3, 50 dwarves).
