Standard Name for Goblins, Elves, Humans?
« on: September 23, 2009, 12:37:26 pm »

I know Urist is the most used name for Dwarves, but what would be the equivalent for the Goblins, Humans or the Elves? Do we even care?

No, only dwarves have a most used name that has become known as -the- dwarven name.

The other races simply don't have a lot of well known names.

What kind of statues are your masons making, that you think they have "maximum exposure"?
(Full frontal ones, apparently.  With very short beards.)

Goblins have one. I don't really hear about it much anymore, though. Jreengus. It comes from an old devlog. "Jreengus occurred."

So until a Human or Elf does something exceptionally dwarfy, (That will be the day.) it will be just Randomname McElf/McHuman?

The kobold camp players probably have a few for kobolds...  Until people play fort mode with them, I don't see it happening.

Sorry, I just checked (something I should have done earlier). Jreengus was a Kobold, not a Goblin.

Especially what with the [UTTERANCES] tag and whatnot.

Actually, Jreengus was a war recorded by Kobolds if i recall correctly.

There are a few for goblins.

Bax, Dostngosp, Smunstu, and Nako are pretty frequent. There's nothing like naming yourselves Nightmare CrueltyIncest.

I played as humans for a while, and didn't see any real pattern in the names picked.

Its an elf, Im not one of those burn all the elves types, Its just that it wasn't a dwarfy elf that became king, its an elf that shot the previous king in the back.

I see Unu a lot for Goblins, at least one of the notable goblins listed on the civ page is named Unu for me.

Sure, Cacame is an elf. But Planepacked is a statue. And Boatmurdered is a fortress.
Not particularly average... although honestly, the name Urist really started with One Dwarf Against the World.
And that Urist was anything but average herself...

His parents got eaten by (I think) gibberlings. Then his wife was eaten. By an elf. Then he started murdering elves. Really quite simple.

Not sure when he became king, but he was literally a teenager when that happened.
