It's been years since I've worn Converse, which used to be basically my personal uniform. I'm not feeling any especially poignant sensations of self-rediscovery just yet, but I'm sure it'll kick in any moment now. Heck yeah.

Just feeling incredibly validated with my choice to go into public service right now, since we just got the news at my agency that we're continuing to work in safe conditions and get paid through mid-May while remaining closed to the public.

Sweets are the purest happies.

When I hit puberty and started exhibiting my fantastic acne-related genetics, I cut sugar out of my diet (yadda yadda carbohydrates etc. blah... things that included refined simple sugars as an added ingredient). After a couple years, I simply lost my sweet tooth. Never gotten it back.

Almost all sodas nowadays are sickeningly sweet to me and I can't drink more than a sip or two straight. Most confections are also entirely too sugary and I can't stand eating them... And traditional sweets, stuff like gummy worms? I can have maybe 2-3 if I've got something to balance them out with, after that I just can't stomach the thought of having more (and I usually start chugging water at that point).


So, eh...  Pure happies are a subjective thing.

Out of curiosity, did that help? Anyway, I cut out most sugar a year or two ago. Fizzy drinks are now sickening and white bread just tastes of pure salt.
That being said, I have a huge weakness for sweets (hence the cutting out...). I love chocolate and icecream, though when I had a chocolate-brownie sundae a few months ago I felt ill afterwards.
So I followed the same sugar-cutting, but if I didn't watch myself I'd happily indulge in the pure happies. (Thankfully guilt is now a thing which absolutely spoils the consumption anyway, so.. yay?)

I had a fun moment playing FF14 today: Fall damage so far has been laughable, barely ever doing more than 10% of my hp. So when I see a big cliff leading down into a port, I think "I'll just jump it." and I insta-die on my landing. So in FF14, you don't immediately respawn, you can choose to watch your dead body for however long you want, so luck-behold, immediately where I had splatted was someone who had gone AFK earlier. I immediately dust off my keyboard and start pleading to him for help. I don't expect much because he has the little sprout icon by his name, signifying that he's a new player as well, so he might simply be unable to help from not knowing the revive spell. After a minute of kindly typing in variants of "Please help." he wordlessly switches classes to conjurer (the healing class) and revives me, and leaves as I thank him.

Then there was a moment when I was in a dungeon, and I was playing as the healer class and I just dropped the ball by losing LOS on the tank, and he just dies. The DPS's step in though, taking all the heat from all the mobs, and they run ring-around-the-rosy with like 20 monsters around some crates over and over, all as I clumsily af find the tank's dead body and revive him. That was a fun moment.

So yeah, I guess I'll purchase FF14, see what this great storyline is all about.

Also, as a DPS, I sympathize with that dungeon event. Happens sometimes, and it's fun so long as it's not like 6 times in one dungeon XD. Red Mage can act as backup heals until you get back into it, often enough, but that's up at lvl 60+ when they get very-cure.
