Got my tool wall sorted nicely, quality of the set is improving now that I've run out of major holes to fill, but I'm worried about my new tendency of finding any excuse to go back and hit something with a full 60 > 100 > 150 > 220 > 320 > 400 > 600 > 800 > 1000 > 1200 > 1500 > 2000 > 2500 > 3000  clean-up/smooth/finish scratch removal/polish/buff/burnish cycle.

Learned I can partially twist the blade in my coping saw (one mount pointing ~30 degrees right of center, other about the same deflection left of center) which makes the longer strokes kinda awkward but lets you do this impossible looking cut where you slide it down into a kerf on a dovetail and just kinda stab and twist and suddenly the fucker is cutting horizontally like it was a goddamn fret saw, which kinda makes me want a fret saw more, though I've gotta admit I was trying to copy the wizardry this guy has going with his saw: https://youtu.be/vKuy3NdLhlE?t=235

I'm kinda well versed on handsaws and such, but let me just say the bafflement you felt when you realized the damn thing just flipped to cutting sideways is the same I felt... and dude is legitimately skilled enough that the initial impression you get of him just WHAPISH flipping the saw to cut that way isn't misguided, watch him do his shit through the rest, it's surprisingly satisfying even if you aren't a woodworker.

But yeah, the saw is like an untoothed vertical bit and then it turns into a bent over 90 degree toothed section like a growing L in cross section, which is fascinating as fuck to watch.

Fenced in a competition on Saturday for the first time in ages. Didn't exactly carry the team, but I did pretty well.

It's also slowly turning to summer here, and whilst I detest the baking heat it does actually stir up pleasant memories. Lying awake late watching anime waiting for the heat to break, training my heart out for tournaments, sinking completely into fantasy worlds, drawing for hours on end. Alright, the second last one is a little bittersweet, but... good times.
