Mug of water + teabag.  If I just microwaved water with nothing in it, it'd probably do that weird thing where it freaks out when the water tension is disturbed (because it's heated unevenly).

Actually, IIRC, it isn't because it's heated unevenly but rather that there are no nuclei for the water vapor to form around in the mug, so it gets really hot without boiling in the microwave but explodes violently when it is disturbed by a solid object (such as a spoon.)

whether a container is microwave safe or not, it would say on the container. as a rule of thumb: fine china, metal, and glass are not microwave safe, anything else is

I microwave water in a ceramic mug sometimes, never run into an explosion.

That's a solid data point, no joke.  I worry a little everytime I microwave any earthenware, like I'm on the edge of remembering something.  Might just be the time I tapped a glass pot against a tree too hard, though.

But the question now is:  Is there something special about glass jars which makes the microwaved water dangerous to disturb?

Or is there another factor?
Also, I love ginger ale.

Glass jars tend to be super smooth, very few bubble nucleation points to set off boiling, leading to a possibility of superheating.

This weather is fukken lovely.
I mean, sure, I'm still wearing two jackets, but overall it feels like a cool, pleasant summer evening, when in fact it is eight o'clock in winter. It's pretty windy though. Half expecting my pint to blow over.

Speaking of my pint, I am finally getting some beer into me, which should hopefully calm my off-the-charts, hangover-fuelled anxiety and allow me to enjoy the bands I'm here to see.
