A webcomic artist who made me cry in 2007 (in a good way) is doing a panel at a con tomorrow.  It's in the town I lived last year, ironically, just 3.5 hours away... 

I expected to be exhausted today, but vacation and babysitting actually has me feeling good.  If I focus a bit, I can catch up enough on work to do a one-person road trip and see a bunch of really neat panels.  And cosplay!  I know a safe place to crash in my hatchback, it'll be just like old times.  Maybe I'll even walk the Appalachian Trail a little before I drive back!

It's a bit of a stretch, but it's kinda thrilling as well...  Yeah, I can do this.  I *want* to do it (:

3.5 hours isn't the worst.

Definitely possible for a day trip. You should go for it. I do, however, recommend not crashing your hatchback, as it will make the return trip more unpleasant than it has to be.

I know it's weird, but I think it's like... wanderlust?  I've gone on car trips like this before to get some privacy, just not for a few years.
Having an actual bed with springs is still... weird, sometimes.  Extravagant.

Anyway, showing up like that wouldn't be fair to other con-goers on the second day.  So I'll just do the con tomorrow, probably get my fill of crowds anyway, then spend Sunday hiking the mountains!  Ideal!

Eh, depends on the person. If you know the risk and are willing to take it, then do it, but know the damn risk. People should really get educated on shit they imbibe.

Before someone goes on about food: I do that too. I might be a bit insane on this topic, I don't know, I really just don't think it's that much effort to know what's going on. I've been yelled at by friends about "not caring about the effects" of various things I rail against, but the thing is that I don't argue that because I assume that people educate themselves on the effects, which I'm increasingly learning (to my horror) is not necessarily true.

Anyway, bottom line: drugs are fine, as long as you know what they do.
