I'm amazed that DF supports that level of scripting.  Wow.  Thanks for the insight into the modding process, too.

He's using exclusively DFhack, as far as I know. It's probably just checking memory for relevant information, and determining whether or not to resurrect a target.

it does not, this is all DFHack; Toady's mentioned the ghosts of dead programmers wailing about a proper scripting engine, but that's still not a thing.

Oh, they'll fight back, but I just consider that a flight-or-fight response instead of intentional, deliberate action like intentional deaths require.

Actually, I think that I should only make heroic ones require the deliberation in fighting, just seems appropriate even for assassinations of the sort they don't even know about.

Tbh, a proper scripting engine sounds like it would be really hard.

Then again, Toady did convert the entire game to 3D and then made history progress during play...

I recall reading somewhere that Toady intends to eventually make a lot less stuff hard coded and give DF its own simple programming language. This is probably post DF V 1.00 priority stuff though, so it could be a while yet.

I got the impression that was one of the major things he wants for 1.0? Which, to be fair, is probably decades away anyway so I doubt it makes a difference.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

Lucky bastards with internet infrastructure that isn't either someone else' wifi network or one running off your phone's tiny data plan and battery life.

After a really bad night and equally bad morning, I put in my two week's notice at work. Even if things don't work out with my plans for the Asset Store and developing my own game, I'm glad to be getting a rest from it all soon. I don't need a shitty job for lame pay on top of everything else; at the least; my school aid will carry me a little ways before I either start cashing in on my plan or need to find another day job.

Also, I really indulged myself in eating food that I know is terrible me. It's very cathartic to take a few minutes and not care about the thing that matters to you most.

Well I've decided I'm asking a girl on a date the first week of school (starts in 4 days).

Not sure what I'm going to as her to (movies, bowling with friends, dinner, I don't know) but I'm going to ask her out.

I have been checking ToadyOne´s profile to see when he posts the 10 000th post but seems like he is taking his time.

Perhaps I would agree with you, if my computer could run the create-a-sim demo, let alone the full game. I'll take my working Sims 3 with multiple expansion packs, if I have the option.
