Heh, this reminds me of a story I've read (I think it was American in origin) that told of a biker gang doing...exactly just this. They had the getup of the tough looking people, but were exceptionally kind and very good overall people.

Thanks for reminding me of that story (now to only remember where I read it. I think it was a Chicken Soup for the Soul story?)

Some bikers volunteer their time to serve as an abused child's protectors, showing up any time of day whenever the kid feels threatened or alone to help drive the nightmares away. They'll escort the kid to court so he or she feels brave enough to testify, even.

It's thought that a VERY small minority of bikers actually do illegal stuff. The rest just do it for the same reason other people join clubs- fun.

I wish the media dropped the D:< biker thought stream. (or...placed emphasis on it that...it seems like they're rampant...)
...Or, y'know, dropped that thoughtstream in places where they're rare. We don't hear much of this level of awesome here, other than if they're published in well-known story-compilation books.
