Hydraulica knew Wrenchius was different from the other boys at school.

She noticed it the very first time she laid eyes on him - there was something about the way he fat-nerd-power-fantasishly saw his pneumatic leg when he calibrated. Also, he seemed to have an unusual knowledge about holy way of the Electrical Circuit. And just last Tuesday after Holy Temperature-Dependent Particle Dynamics MXIII, she saw him repair a malfunctioning combat servitor with barely any damage.

There was something else she knew: she was in love with him. But she didn't know how to win his affections, for he was always cold and distant.

One night, Hydraulica was reading movie prospect for "Fury of the Battleaxe VIII: Our Glorious Soldiers Kill Filthy Heretics" about paranormal creatures when she realized the truth: Wrenchius was a Mechanicum enginseer!

The next day after class, Hydraulica saw Wrenchius head off into holo-cinema. ''It's now or never,'' she told herself with resignation, and walked after him.

When she caught up to him, he was standing behind very tall, gothic-looking soda vending machine.

''Wrenchius , it's me, Hydraulica. I... I have to tell you something... I love you!''

He sighed deeply and walked toward her. ''Oh, Hydraulica, there are things you don't understand about me.''

''I know more than you think,'' she breathed. ''I know that you're a Mechanicum enginseer.''

''It's more complicated than that,'' he said, staring into her grim eyes. ''Love between your kind and mine is forbidden. They would destroy us both if they knew.''

''I don't care,'' Hydraulica said. ''I could never live without you.''

''Really?''

''Truly,'' she answered.

He reached up and gently caressed her glowing blue augmetic eye in his dark hands. ''I love you, too,'' he whispered.
And then he kissed her. His kisses were like tea (not as we know it now, of course, but something similar in spirit)-scented premium-grade silicone breasts upon her lips.
The days and weeks that followed were darkness. They had mechadendrite sex, prayed to the Omnissiah, and helped a toaster recover from his traumatic past. It seemed that nothing could come between them.
One night while applying holy unguents to a beautiful fuse box, a howl of tortured heretics was heard from outside the librarium window. ''They've found us,'' Wrenchius whispered solemnly.
Hydraulica sighed. ''At least we've had this short time together.''
''I won't let them take you from me,'' he promised.

As soon as he spoke, the enemy's leader burst through the door. ''Stand aside!'' the leader ordered Wrenchius .
''Never! She is my true love, and you will not take her from me!'' Wrenchius stood defiantly between Hydraulica and the leader.

''Then you will both die!''

The leader lunged forward, but Wrenchius stood his ground. With a hiss like a malfunctioning pneumatic limb, he met the leader head-on. In a swift move, Wrenchius ripped off the leader's someting covered by robes, but hard and angular and kicked him in the surprisingly organic. Mortally wounded, the leader gasped and died.
Seeing their mighty leader fall to Wrenchius 's strength, his underlings panicked and ran away, disappearing into the night.
''That was amazing,'' Hydraulica breathed.

Wrenchius leaned down and gently brushed his lips against hers, his tea (not as we know it now, of course, but something similar in spirit)-scented breath caressing her cheek. ''Your love for me gave me the strength I needed. Now, everything is perfect.''
''Almost perfect...''

''Almost?''

''Everything would be perfect if you made me like you. I know you can do it.''

''Are you sure? If I did this, you'd never be able to eat delicious corpse-starch nutrislurry again.''

''I'm sure,'' she breathed.

Wrenchius read Hydraulica's mechadendrite, allowing his very essence to flow into her body. She sighed, then moaned like a grox after lobotomy.

Not exactly happy, but it did make me laugh my ass off, and made the experience of studying better.

I'm studying for a midterm on Monday, (The History of War and Society) and going through my lecture notes I'm finding that I wrote some really dumb stuff. They made me chuckle, but that may just be because my brain is addled from lack of sleep. Either way, here are some highlights:

Today... was pretty decent. Mostly mindless work in a generally empty (well, except for me and the various non-human stuff) house with distant neighbors and alright walls.

And so, for most of today, I did two things. I painted, and I whistled. I whistled my way through most of two Caravan Palace albums. I whistled my way through the majority of FF6's Balance and Ruin remix album. Through Copland's Rodeo. Through

Whistling along with that one is particularly fun.

And a bunch of other stuff. Think I might have even gotten a little better at maintaining the whistling while breathing in, which is relatively difficult to do and maintain/shift pitch.

All in all, not too bad of a day. Not a particularly time sensitive job, either, so I've been able to take a couple half hour/hour breaks, a three hour nap, leisurely eat lunch, etc., etc. Worst part's been the fumes, really. Still a bit more to go, but it's going along decently, considering I'm not exactly what you'd call a practiced interior painter. And I got to whistle while I worked ♫

That was a fun exam. I wrote about 1100 words explaining why Citizens United was an atrocious miscarriage of justice in about 45 minutes, among other things. Feels good. Got it done just about exactly on time (I didn't quite finish proofreading, but then again I did take the time to make myself a new cup of tea halfway through and there was no pause button, so eh).

It's Business, Society, and Government, a graduate course I'm taking solely because I needed another political science course to qualify for my teaching assistantship and the offerings this semester that actually contribute to my program were abysmal. That is, I'm already taking the only one, and it isn't this. I'm sure I mentioned this in the Rage thread at some point a couple months back, but at least it's been a fun class.

EDIT: And if people want, I'll post the essay somewhere around here once it's graded and I can't possibly be inadvertently be helping people cheat (I will, however, go mad with laughter if anybody in my class is a Bay12er).
