Extracted DNA from a strawberry today in A&P, for whatever reason. Squished up a strawberry, added some extractor (soapy salt water), mixed it all up, filtered the liquid out of the resulting puree, added chilled ethyl alcohol, and stirred. That made a bunch of DNA rise to the top. Lotsa fun.

A&P is (was? Haven't seen one in a while) a grocery store chain here, so this played out amusingly in my head, with you throwing a box of strawberries in the aisle, the performing science on it while annoyed workers looked on.
