I somehow have friends and they've been sticking around for over two years now so I guess they don't merely tolerate me?

I dunno.

Either I've become fairly good at making friends on campus, or everyone I talk to thinks I'm awkward and such and just doesn't have the balls to tell me, despite me kind of making-sure-they-know-to-fucking-tell-me-god-damn-it. So, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that they're not social assholes :v
Or, you're just too damn adorable to hate.

To be fair, I have at least three independently verified reports of my supposed adorableness. o_o

By the way, is the title of the thread a reference to the Reddit alien or the white powder that falls on the ground? Spelling suggests the former, but rhyming potential suggests the latter.

I think it's a game of thrones reference, I've only picked it up from popcultural osmosis

Or it's a GoT reference, Jon.

Being sigged is pretty good, but being avatared is awesomer.

Spoiler: Explanation (click to show/hide)

Come to think of it, I don't know if I've ever been actually sigged.

4maskwolf question of the day: how to help people trust you.

To extend: I have a friend who is going through a hard time, I can tell, but it's difficult for her to trust me with what's going on.  I want to help her, but I'm completely powerless if I'm uncertain as to the problem.  Any advice?

Well, is this the happy thread? Yeah... Okay, whatever.

Well, prove to her that you want to help her, and keep trying to help. The best thing for trust is time I think.
Talk to her about it? I assume you've tried that, but if not then do that.

Don't try and force her into talking about it. I'd think just saying that you want to help and you're available to talk to would be enough. They have to want to get help, and if they feel like they can't talk to people about or that they need to shoulder the burden on their own then trying to pressure her about it will only worsen the situation.

Trust them back o_o
Basic rule of communication: There must exist trust between the people.

*reads the extend*
Probably the trust on her side is barrier...'d by some perceptions she thinks you may carry? Fear is a thing that disrupts communication.

As Spehss_ said, don't be forceful and let her know you're open to talk to. As in, tell her you're open to talk to.

Oh, happy thread.

..Um.
I woke up in a nice soft bed today! :D
