Couldn't you just have used D20's?

Not to knock off your method which is pretty creative, but you can also use https://www.wizards.com/dnd/dice/dice.htm

I've been told by the internet that that site has horribly bad RNG.

I have no D20s.

But I suppose I could have made a D20 simulator and use that for my D10s.

And that's why Random.org is brilliant.

Oops, missed the no internet part.

Didn't know about the dodgy rng, but it's not like it matter much for that kind of ponctual use.

I've heard the same thing about Random.org

But if a random dice roller isn't by nature fundamentally random, what's the fricken point?

Could be true, but I'm pretty sure you can find people saying that about literally everything random everywhere.

The thing with "bad" rng isn't that the distribution is skewed, it's that when you make a lot of rolls a pattern may emerge, which can cause issue is some very specific case or open the system to be abused by third party. None of those apply much to the usual role playing game scenario unless you got a very dedicated cheater.

But random doesn't mean that it'll be an even distribution across all numbers. It would as likely to roll 1 through 6 as it is to roll 6 6's.

Though I have seen mention that computers can't really do random generation but I have no idea how it works in reality.

Self Destruct Sequence: Initiated.

You know it played that code the moment it learned you were replacing it.

I'm suspecting that true RNG does not work like we expect it to, and people get pissed about that. When people get like, say, 1111111 as result, it's actually exactly as likely as, say 2761587.

That depends on what dice you use though.

That's because physical dice are not perfect RNG. Unless you're joking here.
