Does anyone know of a music playing program or VLC plug-in that changes the randomization to, instead of cycling randomly through songs, cycles randomly through groups of songs? Like, say, by album? Like it'll play the entire album from 1 to XX but then instead of playing the next in-line album it hops to a randomly selected album's first song.

Pretty sure foobar2000 can do a shuffle by album, although I believe that's also its only option for that (you can't specify arbitrary groups).

Well you can just change the album to define your own arbitrary groups...
