Feeling accomplished this weekend.  Did some chores I'd been putting off for a long time.  A little exercise.

And I worked up the motivation to draw a character for a friend, to help him prepare for running events at Gencon.  Stuff has happened and put him behind schedule, so he asked me for help.  Sketching isn't normally a strength of mine, and this turned out way better looking for 3-4 hours of work than I'd normally expect.

So it's 4chan summer cup time. And while looking through some of the matches that I care about but Missed I found this video of Hitler denying Jews a goal.
I have not laughed as hard all week as when Hitler went sliding and sent the ball in offside. Can't give the Jews anything can he?

Back home!

Never expected a trip to the seaside would be so damn boring and generally not-fun. But I guess that's what happens when your parents are excited for it and you're just too tired to give a crap :I

I have written a video game! It's a super-shitty matching game, copied from somebody else's code pretty much verbatim, but hey tutorials are tutorials for a reason, and I do vaguely understand what I'm doing here so... progress? Soon I'll be able to make my own super-shitty code >_______>

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I have made a game, technically. It was a Java console guess-the-number thing where it told you whether your guess was too high or too low and tracked how many times it took you, and it was only half tutorial-based!

The most advanced thing I've done is create a game of hangman in C++, and that was with a good bit of help/instruction.

I've made a fully working (though single-leveled and simple as shit) Roguelike, but I'm not too proud of that (first big programming project = scary code).

I'd say that this might be my proudest not-DFHack programming achievement.

That's pretty neat, actually. I wish I had some cool achievement to my name, but all I have is abandoned projects and forgotten dreams.

I made a calculator. That, and a pretty much linear text adventure.

All my programming projects these days seem to boil down to rewriting my previous awful code in my style du-jour without actually doing much new stuff...

In other news, woo, rewriting my personal project framework again. :P

I'm in the OOC quotes thread for the third time, and this time it isn't at the bottom of a page!

The last few pages of Girl Genius feature a railgun that shoots actual rails and a small army of bear warriors. This comic has been really good lately.
