Okay, I'm going to ignore your obvious point that the initial quote is objectifying, selfish, insane nonsense, and instead field this last question as though it were a real one. Because this is the happy thread, and I need to inject some silliness into this much-too-serious topic.

Provided that you're only given a lineup, and therefore have no way of judging anything other than appearance, then it's (possibly) reasonable to conclude that your odds of actual compatibility are just as good no matter who you pick. Therefore, even though you should expect that your odds of everything working out in a satisfying way are low no matter what, you might as well optimize for the one characteristic you're capable of checking.

But to put it seriously? I would. If 100 people turned up out of nowhere, I had to choose one, and the other 99 vanished from my life forever- I would seriously be haunted by it.
Who were they? Why did they decide to join this crazy lottery? What were they like? Would we have been good friends? Would we have fit better?

So I went onto the PC, and saw that the background was changed to a screenshot from Metro Last Light. Didn't think anything of it, since both me and my brother both own the PC and we both like the Metro series in general. We haven't gotten Last Light yet, and the last background was from a game he was looking forward to, so I thought it was just switching to something I was looking forward to playing.

I right-clicked on steam to play Hotline Miami or similar, but then I saw that the most recent game was Metro Last Light.

My brother just bought me the sequel to a game I really liked and made it a really nice slow surprise.
