Well, aside from the stress and mild terror of trying to navigate a 70ft combination vehicle through the streets of Chicago, today has been much better than the previous. It's my first time here in Chicago as well, so I get to do at least a little sightseeing.

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Watched Oblivion again (Sky has it on Sky Premier! Yay!).

I like the film. It also has Morgan Freeman, who is one of my favourite actors.
Yeah it's nice to see Tom Cruise devoting himself to science fiction.

He did that long ago, he's a Scientologist after all.

As part of a Valentine's gift, I had to tamper with and reseal a Magic booster pack (which I think I did pretty nicely, though it took a couple of tries). The first one I didn't tear while opening had a foil rare and one of the gods in it, so, uh. Yeah, I couldn't bring myself to take either of those, no matter how much I wanted them. My friend continues to have obnoxious luck with Magic packs.

Think CoD with giant mechs and jetpacks.
And no, it's not just you.

CoD being... I'm guessing call of duty? Or just a generic FPS-type thing.

So basically a new release of Armored Core? Or... something more?

mid-sized 'titans' vulnerable to small arms fire and only moderately faster than a foot-powered scooter.  I was excited for it until the devs opened their mouths and insulted Battletech.  "We don't like 'mechs, we don't want to be assosciated with something as slow as a geriatric person with a walker"  I am absolutely confident that I could arbitrarily crush entire armies of ther 'titans' with a lone Warhawk.

This is the old "which is stronger Enterprise or Star Destroyer" argument which ends as soon as you realize Lucas just used "bajillions of gigajoules" instead of something reasonable like Roddenberry did. Which means some lame little troop transport in SW does more energy output, and thus damage, than a ST space station.

It's dumb that the devs went there. They could have just said "we want our titans to be agile" and it would have sufficed. It's not like they're doing anything innovative - after all, Armored Core and Zone of Enders.
