My cat is back! Yay! :D

Actually, we (or rather, my mother's super-hearing) found him last night- apparently he'd been stuck in a tree out in our front yard since Monday night. Of course it'd be too undignified for him to call for help... ::)
Anyway, he was too high up for us to get him down. I climbed as far up the tree as I could, I managed to touch him but I couldn't quite get a good grip on him to lift him down. We eventually decided we'd just have to ring the Council or something in the morning.

So this morning, when I got up (only at a bit before noon, since I was seriously tired), got dressed and stumbled outside to see if the cat was still there, I couldn't see him. Mum had just gone to ask the neighbours if they had a ladder, since getting the Council to save him would have "cost a fortune", apparently.

I'm walking around the bunch of trees, craning my neck upwards at where he was last night, shielding my eyes from the awful sunlight. I still can't see him- I'm starting to worry, maybe nobody checked if he was still up there this morning? And then I turn to walk back into the yard and see him right in front of me, sitting there cleaning himself with a paw at not looking too worried.

I'm not quite sure how he managed to get down- either he got the courage up at last or gravity had something to do with it.
Doesn't matter, he's back safe and sound. :)

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I had a cat get caught in a tree once. He was quite vocal about it, though. To get him down, my dad climbed out and used a cat carrier ties to some sort of long stick (maybe a broom). The cat jumped into the cage and was lowered down.

We never caught him climbing trees again.

My cat is an absolute bastard. He never ever stops hassling my parents for food. Still, he's a damn good ratter, so at least he pays for himself...

Why is Voice of Resurgence pushing $60, and why did I just open one with a shock land.[/mtg]

...You lucky bastard. Next you're going to say that you cracked a pack of Modern Masters with a foil Tarmogoyf.
No, I'll never say that. I'll never actually buy a Modern Masters pack*, and if I did, and pulled a foil Tarmogoyf, I wouldn't be able to type on account of being too busy giggling for the rest of my life.

*My "significant purchase" sense triggers at $5, which keeps me from buying them on a whim, which is basically the only reason I buy packs these days instead of singles. I'm just glad I didn't resist this particular whim >________>

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

-snip-
I'm not quite sure what "the Council" refers to in this case, so I'm just going to assume they are a group of wizards who use their powerful magic to help people out and charge exorbitant fees to do so.
