So I'm trying on nicknames and a few vary depending on the sex of the midget . . .

Like my head mason.  Guy are Moulder, girls Scully. :)
I'm not sure how I should respond to this.

So, it need work... Mould-er not working. . .

In other news, I gave my Advanced course speech/presentation to the school presidents/deans/honors council today.  My fellow presenters didnt show, leaving me to fumble with the ad lib.  All in all I think I nailed it.  Yay, social inequality from a conservative perspective!

Also like how there was noone else to try to interject with political mush.  I dont understand why my idea of helping people become independent and a merit based culture is so offensive to my peers.  The board seemed happy enough with it.

The majority of the device, called the "Liberator," is fabricated entirely out of plastic, save for a nail used as a firing pin as well as a six-ounce piece of steel, intended to allow the gun to be detected by metal detectors.
Bolded part made me chuckle at how stupid an idea it is.

No one's ever going to take those out or simply exclude them when they print them, nooooo.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Well, it's a felony to print one without a bar. So, while I'm sure the actual creators would much rather have one without, they need to keep their bases covered.

The future of warfare is printing. The strength of armies will be measured in their creativity; the ultimate in 3d rock, paper notes, klein bottle.

*EDIT
It's at times like these when I remember even on this forum we had people saying 3D printing would never catch on :P

Ugh, I started reading the comments.

On the other hand, this type of thing is kinda happy news. In addition to weapons apparently, this kind of technology can theoretically by applied to non-plastic materials, such as organic material. What I'm trying to say is, it won't be long before we have replicators. System Shock-style replicators though, not Star Trek(which use energy-to-matter replication, I think).

So, those printers go for $1000-$1500? Time to start saving up.

* MagmaMcFry is still skeptical

Until they make those things much easier to maintain and clean and transport, and much less energy- and space-consuming, there won't be such a thing as a household 3D printer. Although I could imagine copy shops eventually acquiring a 3D printer.

The space and transport issue is partially solved.

What my robotics team wouldn't give for one of those...  Not a day goes by without someone saying how much easier our ob would be with a 3D printer.

A 3d printer is a type of robot. You might be able to build one, or you could start with one of the cheaper ones for sale: http://www.3ders.org/3d-printer/3d-printer-price.html

Personally I never said it wouldn't catch on, I did say that people have been severely overestimating the impact it's going to have on the way the world works.

The home sewing machine didn't invalidate the clothes factory. It just made it easier for hobbyists to make their own clothes.

The school we where at has two. They're both broken, but only mildly. Nobody cares enough to fix them and it really annoys me. I could make so much sweet crap!
